YABookgate

There should be some special genre called Adult Babby fiction and this SJW shit should be shoved off into that.
That’s a good idea, considering that I’ve read some adult fiction that reads like YA, claims the diverse cast of characters as a selling point, and really explores the same themes as a YA novel, but they have excessive swearing and explicit sex scenes, as if that’s what makes an adult book adult.

If that's what they think makes a book adult, yes, they are adult babies.

When I was a young adult the most popular YA series was a Red Dawn knockoff where the heroes are a bunch of teenagers who become literal terrorists and murder gooks with homemade bombs, and it didn't negatively affect my development any.
If it didn’t have any negative impact on you, you wouldn’t be here.

Another agent has been cancelled.

the thread of accusations:

high profile clients have left him and he's since deleted his Twitter

Just in case anyone was worried that Sherman’s shaming might make these ghouls reevaluate their treatment of his former client, don’t worry. These dumb motherfuckers won’t stop until everyone is fired and can’t work again!

Scumbag agent Brooks Sherman has left his agency and his clients are leaving him. Among them are Angie Thomas, author of The Hate U Give. I doubt she has many fans here, but she’s still sold a ton of books. Again, all of these allegations are extremely vague (a lot of the rundowns throw in sexual harassment, but almost as an afterthought, which is extremely odd how those type of accusations are usually the star attraction), but that’s never been enough to stop a good witch-hunt.

People want to witch hunt whoever wrote that article too for some reason:

"Young Adult" used to specify a specific genre of throwaway fiction aimed at Middle Schoolers. Honestly by High School you should have at least moved into fiction of questionable quality for actual adults- the Stephen Kings and Nora Robertses.

But YA I think had a limited window and they wanted to make more of that idiot-money from people that like to pretend that reading as a pastime is an indicator of intelligence. Being a 40 y.o. reading Divergent doesn't make you intelligent or interesting.

It also shits up other genres. If you want cheap Sci-Fi at least have the self-respect to pick up a couple of old Baen or Ace paperbacks at the used store.
Mmmmm boy I was reading the Starfist Space Marine series in middle school and anything by Kratman or from GW Black Library in high school.

YA in my eyes is something like Artemis Fowl. Your have 2-4 years to sell to your primary demo before they age out.

It's nkw devolved into who can be the most woke.
