In other words, because they fucking EVOLVED to fit the climate they lived in.

This is exactly the reason people with darker complexions have them. Because the environments they lived in favored a darker complexion.

I do find it really hilarious though that in almost every attempt to prove that every character they happen to like like is a Proud Woman of Color (TM) ends up just being extremely racist.

I also saw an sjw who was soapboxing about how hoooooribly problematic Peridot was, and I'm thinking... isn't she an antagonist? I don't watch the show so I may be wrong but if you're not supposed to like a character unless they perfectly align with your beliefs, then how is any relevant storytelling supposed to occur?
