Len has been forum squatting railfan sites and thread sliding with sockpuppets for damn near twenty years. This is the first instance where he's ever been confronted outright about it and called to the carpet. He thinks we have misconceptions about him, so he keeps showing up to exonerate himself without realizing nobody gives a shit. His inability to control the environment is causing him to meltdown in all areas of his life. Trying to start a fight with a railroad employee thinking he's on the farms here is proof of that. This thread is what happens when you're a completely irredeemable asshole with internet access.

There are no brakes on this train.

Also, he undergoes a sockpuppet metamorphosis every 300 pages. Expect an FBI or cop to appear around page 600, claiming to have proof "Mr. Shaner" is innocent and that we're all going to jail right before we burn forever in unending hellfire.

EDIT: By page 490, he's slowly turning into a "lawyer", so expect to see one soon.

In fact, let's have a bit of an examination of Shaner's history with derailed trains.

I suspect, especially after reading @I'm With Chris 's post about "Dooley", that Shaner has tried to do bad things to railways before. He's 58 years old, an autistic sociopath, and has entitlement issues out the ass. In his more sprightly years, he probably attempted a number of stupid things like this but was never caught because, maybe, he was actually able to run away without his gut weighing him down, or because people assumed the poor harmless retard couldn't have done it. Maybe he hasn't actually tried to derail a train specifically until now, but he's probably endangered lives. Maybe he's fucked with the machinery as revenge, or something. Maybe he's popped off the wheels, I don't fucking know. I just know that Shaner is the kind of person who does this sort of thing.

But I do doubt he's actually derailed another train before, or caused any large-scale harm. Shaner is one thing if any, and that's completely incompetent. His criminal ventures like stealing train parts succeed mostly because he's persistent and there's no immediate active resistance on anyone's part, or at least there hasn't been up until recently. He's beyond stupid and irrational; he's actually illogical, which is probably why people let him do what he does--they think it must just be another crazy twist from the heavens, when it's just an autistic waste of space's bizarre way of relating to the world.

My bet is that he tried to derail the train that he was filming that day to jerk off to and continues to deny his clear and obvious guilt in even now, but failed because he is just so hilariously incompetent. They charged him with reckless endangerment because of what he wanted to do, not because of what he almost did. This makes Len not only a morally bankrupt human being, but also very pathetic.

Why are you so pathetic, Len? You're sixty years old and you've never done anything but make other people miserable. I bet your mom wishes you had never been born. I bet she wishes she'd had sex with a Cadillac instead of a train.

If I may take a page from my discount psychology book and soapbox from my torn armchair, I'll throw out a halfassed theory.

As we've seen for about 400 pages, Len has a very... unique worldview. He's convinced the Kiwi Farms is an extension of the Colebrookdale Railroad (to the point where people have claimed that he was searching for it in public), and he appears to accuse several people in this topic of being people he knows irl, and the dogged repetitiveness his accusations either leads me to believe he's either the genuine article or a higher plane of autism.

With that being said, one could posit that Len has a particular view of women, that being that they're all daft, pretty things that men can admire and play with, much like trains. It's a... rather disgusting thought, but Len is fairly old and his background can be mired in some belief of male superiority. His interactions we've seen with women have been minimal at best and the one that sticks out to me (that one with the female worker at Sears from one of @Gook Choy's stories iirc), where he tried to turn a "hug" into some kind of kiss, sounds like something I'd see in a mediocre romcom movie. Much like other lolcows, Len might derive all female behavior from romance films and other pop culture where female leads are treated as "that girl" that the male lead eventually gets.

I'm admittedly not basing this on much more than his spazzing about, and I'm as accreditted in psychology as @The_Iconoclast is, but that's my two cents.
