A while back I got so sick of these people that I word filtered "neurodiversity" to "pickles", and forgot I had done it, so this thread title was extremely confusing for a second.

Life isn't like Seconds, where advanced surgery can transform you from a middle-aged miser to a heartthrob. What if these people don't want to change? What if they're fine with their autism? Why would they want to stay stuck with a neurological disorder? Just like why would you want to stay stuck with something like Parkinson's disease or Tourette's Syndrome and there happened to be a cure for it.

To expand upon this point, We here at the Farms don't hate Autistics, We hate stupid people. No hate is the wrong word we find our entertainment in them. Hell a lot of the time some Kiwis actually give advice and try to help the cows we watch, True most of the time it's thrown right back in their faces but hey.

I'm not sure if we should go so far as to say that this movement is a lolcow per se. While I don't necessarily agree with everything the movement is claiming, it is a two-sided issue and there are people I respect like Temple Grandin who support this concept so I really don't know.

Most of the phenomenally stupid things I've seen people say in the name of neurodiversity have always been from self-diagnosers (who are usually also teenagers) and the majority of people I have encountered who are actually diagnosed autistic and support some kind of autistic cultural identity are pretty chill about it. YMMV of course.

While it is true that mild autism can have positive effects to balance out the negative ones, autism can also be serious enough to stop the victim from functioning in a normal society. The autism spectrum is quite broad, and your view of autism is only accurate for people on the upper end of the spectrum.

I'm wary of eugenics in general. Like a lot of man's achievements, there is a potential for abuse. When you play God, it will backfire on you. Who's to say that the genetically perfect, physically attractive people of the future won't be rejects from a Bret Easton Ellis novel?
