In my powerleveling experience, by the time the mentally ill gets to a psychiatrist, they have such a warped perception of the world and are unreliable narrators, it is hard to say.
There probably was a conversation. The psychiatrist at this stage has every reason to respond positively in the conversation.
This is a bad sign. The psychiatrist has determined that Rhys is going to be resistant to actual discussion, and has neatly sidestepped the issue with a view to either:
1. Having Rhys realise he does not have C-PTSD; or
2. Having Rhys at least come back and pay money while doing a tolerable mimicry of C-PTSD.
US based insurers will only approve DSM linked codes. In late stage capitalism, you cannot be diagnosed with a condition you can't pay for.
Entirely different diagnostic systems, not that it matters because
nobody can reliably tell it apart. However, DSM has always moved in lockstep with ICD, so we can anticipate an update that clarifies this.
Psychistrists do not normally diagnose. Diagnoses would have already been made by a clinical psychologist. Either way, it would take 6 sessions to even form a vague opinion about someone.
Let's face it, a man who chops off his penis and calls it a "pleasant peanut clit" and makes him a "superior woman world famous professor cyclist" to the point not dating him is suberogatory is not sane in the head.
For all we know or care, C-PTSD may be a legit diagnosis stemming from the constant trauma of the cock chop.
