General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Breaking and unfortunate news. Jitomi Monoe of VOMS project had somehow violated her contract and as a result was terminated from VOMS Project. There has been no specific reason given. Here's a DeepL translation of the press statement that was in the above tweet from Gyari. I'm honestly just shocked, this shit came out of nowhere.

Edit: Tomoshika is seemingly going to do a stream about the incident very soon. Here's a link to that if anyone would care to try and parse some information from it.

Well shit she's the only VOMS I watched, what the hell happened

Man I missed you autists. I have been away for more than two weeks, and have about 200 pages to catch up on. Anyways, is 'Ollie Doom-posting' a thing yet?
Im not giving any artemis-related shit any seconds of my life

Id be lying if i say that i am saddened by this news as i watch mainly pikamee. Though what the fuck did she do that get her to be axed like this? Last i remember she did some 24 hour stream on her 100k celebration and thats it.

That's very unfortunate to hear.
To have VOMS reduced to two members is a low blow.
What did she do to violate her contract?

Alright, so here's what I can get from Tomoshika's stream, using both my limited knowledge of Japanese and what some translators said:
  • The termination of Monoe's contract was a very sudden decision, so much so that TMSK did not have much time to collect he feelings before the stream.
  • No specific reason for termination was given and she says not to speculate or blame anyone for her contract termination.
  • The decision to terminate her contract was decided upon through a discussion between Pikamee, Tomoshika, and Gyari, though Gyari was the one who got the final say.
  • Apparently, the wording may imply that Monoe's contract violation was something she had been doing for a while before being caught.*
  • The one thing that Monoe told Tomoshika to tell everyone was that this is not health related, she is healthy.
  • TMSK will never forget the (almost) year she has spent together with Monoe.
  • Monoe's channel will be purged of videos and deleted.*
  • The girls and Gyari will do their best to continue on the VOMS Project.
It's totally possible that more information could come out in the future (both formally and informally), but it's best not to speculate. This really did come out of nowhere, very little foreshadowing.

*Edited and/or added with newer translations from other sources.

Edit: Here's Pika's stream on the ordeal. Bit late with this one. From what I'm already hearing, she sounds pretty deflated as well.

Damn. This is shocking. I never watch her personally, so it isn't exactly sad for me. Still, it's really scary to think that anyone you're a fan of can be gone one of this day just like that.

Imagine being the guy that has to change all the "is" to "was" in the wiki right now

Wait holy shit they're fast
