General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

The weirdest part of the Monoe termination to me is that it comes across as if she did something really fucked up but there seems to be absolutely zero info on what happened. Pikamee said this was a couple days in the works and that she spoke to Monoe a couple day ago about it. Really crazy too since Monoe came across as the laid back one compared to the other.
I was wondering why Pikamee hasn't streamed over the past few days and thought it was weird since she would always warn her viewers if any significant period of inactivity was coming up (like a week-long vacation).

Among the three of them, I actually thought it would be Tomoshika that would be likely to fuck up. She just went through this weird phase/period where she had a bunch of "enlightened" streams and seemed likely to go menhera at some point. Monoe was just fucking chill as fuck.

This does put a big questionmark on VOMS moving forward. Pikamee far out-earns both Tomoshika/Monoe but her branding and design has always tied back to the VOMS trio and having just two of them now is going to be weird. It'll probably be a weird next few streams for Pikamee and I can't imagine her just jumping back and being cheerful in her next game streams.

I just fucking hope people don't sad-fag the Monoe's departure constantly at Pikamee and Tomoshika's chat streams the way people do with Aloe and Holo5.

remind me with the case of Andrew Garfield was fired from Spider-Man due his absence on Sony boss or so party in brazil.
maybe it similar, something she not agree with but company force her to otherwise she got fired (?)
Their public relationship with Gyari has always seemed jovial from what few public interactions they've had with him there were out there. Nothing about what we've heard from Tomoshika or Pikamee's streams about the issue indicate anything like that.

Onto a less pleasant news, Suzuhara Lulu's 2 days break has been extended indefinitely due to unspecified reason. Judging from what she said yesterday, the problems seem to be coming from youtube and not her end so I'm not worry too much yet.

I like Ollie because even though she's a Vtuber with good english and japanese level, and international presence in the community, she still exhibits common indonesian girls behaviour, especially among the average weebs here. Also, Indonesian also has the same culture for "Onii-chan" or "senpai" for lovers, with our own words that is

It is a common thing with the ID

I know "mas" and "kakak" but they also have "bak" which I think is for older people.

god she's just so mediocre, I don't get it

Looks like this practice of 'shadow agencies' is more common than I thought. Lele Umai, another PH vtuber (3rd behind Kaheru and Lyrica). just came out with an open letter with a similar problem, including moaning tiktoks, fake drama for publicity, and being forced to stop using Tagalog.

Is this how you archive? https://archive.vn/05pb3
So basically some 3rd worlder or poor person in general can't afford a model, gets startup costs covered by a shady company presumably in exchange for a share of income. I'm kinda curious how these invisible shadow agencies find talent while highly public EN groups fail constantly at finding remotely competent people. Is that just how bad the EN "community" is? That it's easier to find decent talent in secret than on twitter?

There has to be a better way to let go of a streamer than the usual scorched earth "RRARRGH DELETE EVERYTHING" approach both Cover and Nijisanji subscribe to.
But it is such a hard line to walk though. Think of every choice and it's outcome:
If you gradually make them irrelevant => Narratives and forced drama.
If you make up a 'personal' reason => Ticking Time Bomb for the corporate aspect.
If you send them off with well wishes, and the reason is cruel but external => Why didn't the company do more? (Aloe)
If you send them off with well wishes, and the reason was correct => You'll probably get flak for bad decision making. (CN)
If you throw hate toward the leaving talent and it is undeserved => You are going to get real heat.
If you throw hate toward the leaving talent and it is deserved => You are going to be seen as petty.

Either they leave because they genuinely are just going to move on, or you scorch it. Because if you don't wipe the slate, you may just fuel those freaks we continuously bring up here posting past-life videos. And you don't want to be held responsible for that for various reasons.
the problems seem to be coming from youtube and not her end so I'm not worry too much yet.
I'm getting real tired of this shit. They need to at least make the algorithm purely reactionary and incorporate video reports on a more extended period. That would probably free up most VTuber issues, although some scum might also have their day. . . but who cares about the dregs?

Anywho. I'm playing my new favorite suicidal drinking game of seeing how many かわいい's I see from Lyger. I'm counting eight so far. It has been a half hour.

And now I've suddenly become Queer Eye for the Weeb Guy, so I'm probably going to have to find that Emitsun video to get back to normal.

Looks like civil war. Perfect.
It's a refreshing change of pace to be talking design instead of doom and dox.

And if we can have KF users doxing others, of course these outside doxxers are going to do it too.
*claps*
A new Kiwi is taking the steps of becoming a better poster.
It's wonderful.
Thanks man, I like that archive site, feels really convenient and knows how to make Twitter archives in a way that's more readable than Twitter itself

So either this shadow agency stuff is just plain too weird to be true, or it's a pretty dang insidious way to get vtubers started it seems. Makes me wonder how Lele would have grown without that deal with the devil, given how all that mess managed to get her to just under 50k subs, within range of catching up to Lyrica English(Kaheru being double that mostly off of her Genshin Impact Tagalog Version quality shitpost-level dubs)

The one thing that I think adds credibility would be the weird decision to stop speaking Tagalog. I don't follow Lele but that's not a common move for PH vtubers to do, not by a long shot. Either you speak it or you don't, but I've never seen someone just stop.

(As an aside, Lyrica in her 50k Jollibee eating stream just cited confidence issues that also keep her from just asking for collabs, corporate restraints, and the Discord community she created as part of why she seemingly didn't audition for HoloEN2. Sensible or self-sacrificing?)

Haven't checked the VOD yet but seems self-sacrificing. She has a nice singing voice, can be genki as fuck and has great English skills. She'd be perfect target for EN Gen2 as the kind of lesser-known, diamond-in-the-rough kind of talent that Cover likes to recruit. Plus, she's already in Canada - so her timeslot is already EN friendly.

Brings me back to her anecdote about Moona extending her an invite to HoloID and she turned it down. At some point, you just have to grab opportunities when they're served up to you on a silver platter.

More like sibling. Ollie said Astel is her brother.

It's the word choice, the timing, and the tension.

Given context, often Japan uses "Oniichan" like the English speaking world in the past year-ish use "Step-Bro".

Note when he goes "Oniichan janai yo." ('Oniichan' is the wrong word to use.) "Aniki dayo, ne?" (Call me 'aniki', okay?)

Strictly speaking they're words with the same definition, but one has a lot more specific baggage with its usage.

Here’s another channel that got recommended to me. Description says eren is dead so it’s probably either the same guy or some other fag with a discord.

Wasn’t this from when she was like 12 or something? Someone enlighten me please, but pretty sure you can’t call this her “real voice” if she’s just hitting puberty.
