It has been previously mentioned, and conclusively established, that the surgery is paid for by his BC Health Insurance. There are almost not hurdles, and the GRS clinic handles the paperwork.

He would need to pay travel and hotel out of pocket, but he has managed to find money for travel without much issue.

RE: Hotel, I reckon he might have been one or two nights (max) out of pocket for a hotel. I.e. he got there a day or two early before the surgery then goes in for the operation. Spends time at the clinic, then moves next door to L'asclépiade, the GRS 'convalescence' house. After that, he's cleared to return home.

This is their timeline for undergoing the surgery:

I'd guess that not only the operation but also the time at the convalescence house would be fully funded as it's all part of the recovery. I reckon after discharge from L'asclépiade, there would be no need to hang around Montreal. It would be the same processes as discharging from a hospital, if it wasn't 'safe' for you to return home you'd stay longer.

MeowMix said that he was staying at the Laval Holiday Inn. Prices there range from $97-118CAD this week. If he booked it in advance, the rates were probably cheaper. So he's out what? Max ~$240CAD plus whatever he paid for the airfare.

Easily doable IMO.

I've been told that the Montreal GRS facility has arrangements with various "angel donors" to anonymously pay for these flights. I have no idea how it works, but if there's free money to be had, Yaniv will sniff it out.

He may have stayed there before the surgery, but I don’t think the gory post-surgery photos he released were taken there. There’s a fairly distinctive building in the background of one of those shots that doesn’t match anything in the vicinity of the Laval Holiday Inn. Nor can I see anything around the Asclėpiade that looks similar. So (assuming the photos are indeed of JYS), we’d need to factor in another hotel stay post-chop.

I could buy the idea that there are ’angel donors’ who would pay for this. The jury’s out on whether these are fallen angels though.
