Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

I fucking knew it. Not only was the Space Aladdin description perfectly apt., but like I suspected the Ahsoka show is just more Filoniverse pandering by being Disney's Thrawn Trilogy but with Aladdin and Ahsoka replacing Luke and Mara so to remove the romantic tension. Gotta maintain Luke's loser status.

How does that even work?

I've oozed on here more than once about the Thrawn trilogy, but it really is that good. What makes it good is how these disparate threads come together, something that neither Mando, Rebels, or Season 7 of the Clone Wars managed to pull off.

Forgetting the plot, how can Ahsoka slot in there? I get Ezra, he's a Luke Skywalker clone without any of Luke's character or development. But Ahsoka?

Mara in the Heir to the Empire books is a genuinely jaded, no pun intended, former Imperial who at the time no one knew what she was going to do. She was the perfect cynical foil for the idealistic Luke Skywalker.

I can't even pin Ashoka's personality, but with not one but two hazy characters...

As for taking things from Luke? Luke's done. Hamil's old and Disney owns everything. I'm sure a generation from now turnover happens, but for the next twenty years? No one's stealing anything. Best thing that can happen if you love a certain Tatooine farm boy is he gets left on the shelf for a while.

Some of the earliest videos online were of people snipping together audio from One Jump Ahead and Street Rat into Aladdin's Rebels because the first episode was pretty much the plot of Aladdin. Poor orphan boy (who looks exactly like Aladdin) goes around stealing food and helping fellow poor people as he runs away from wacky officers, which is then followed by him running up back to his lonely tower full of crap. All the little shit was missing was an alien monkey sidekick to make it complete. So Disney is either really oblivious to the comparison or they think that making an SW character a Disney knockoff means its more popular with kids and teens. Then again I wouldn't be surprised if they don't know about the comparisons or the memes because in the media industry these fucks are always the last to get the memo when it comes to what's trendy or popular online, even if years have passed since a thing was trending.
I liked Ezra as space Aladdin better than him being Luke 2.0 in Season 3 and 4. He's in that Filoni spot where he's an actual character, just a bad photocopy of a better one. Parasite Dave doesn't do originality. I think your right on the money he's going to rip something or someone off. But the question is does he risk doing the Thrawn trilogy or go for something simpler like he did with Mando. (stealing plots from Old Westerns).
As for Fallen Order, its gameplay is alright (basically just a Force Unleashed knockoff,
Every SW game of the last ten years is derivative.
so that's hard to fuck up when you're basically just copypasting) but its biggest flaw is its story and character designs more than anything else along with its annoying insistence on trying to tie itself to the sequels and Aladdin's Rebels as much as possible while also jerking off their new precursor species which are just a knockoff of the Kwa. That and its refusal to give you the dark side option like its predecessors is just lazy, but then again, it seems Disney is unwilling to let you be evil in any of their games.
Oh man, the character designs. I had such high hopes with the shipyards in the beginning.

Two FOTJ books left before I upload my coverage of the series into a compilation post. Apologies for being untimely and homosexual, but real word nonsense got in the way.

I'm thinking about throwing in a part of the post that covers Crucible as well, but I might make that its own separate post, given how controversial it is.

If you had not seen Ben Shapiro's interview with Gina Carano, it's on YouTube now:
Skip the ads when they come up.
It's interesting to realize that Disney has a whole section for LGBTQ people that don't recognize that Lucasfilm will actively remove LGBT scenes in their films just to appeal to other countries.

WorldClasBullshitters did a video on the efforts to now apparently erase the entire existence of Cara Dune herself.
This shit just keeps getting worse and worse from a PR standpoint.

I only hope Gina speaking out spurs other fired Lucasfilm employees into speaking out or releasing a tell-all. Especially Rinzler who probably doesn't have much time left on this Earth sadly.

And speaking of Earth, apparently the "Vow of Silver Dawn" (the Chinese-exclusive Disney Wars webnovel series set at the end of the High Republic which was discussed in the thread before) apparently canonized the SW galaxy to be the Milky Way Galaxy...
To be specific, everyone recalls that it was mentioned previously in this thread that the main setting of this story was basically space China; well the name of the main star system of this series is the Heaven System and its heart is planet Earth... The Heaven System is 99.9% humans (Chinese humans), and the culture, language and people are referred to as Qiankun ("Everything on Heaven and Earth") based on translations. There are also irl items and foodstuffs in the setting, including a fruit named after the Chinese Emperor Ziying. Also all the character names in the book are real life english and Chinese names with only one made up space name according to translations. There's also a lot of real Chinese chicken-based foods. Strangely enough, the god of this star system isn't some Chinese deity or a Buddha, but the "Holy Mother" who characters say looks like the MC, who is a guy. I guess they wanted to preserve the Force is Female theme. Also what are the odds that the MC was going to be a girl before they realized the Chinese wouldn't go for it?

I knew they wanted to go the extra mile by basically making it space China for max pandering but I didn't think they would go this far. I mean obviously there was an evil american president stand-in from planet burgerland in it from the get-go, but still... And the most incriminating thing is that the book reveals that the Disney Wars Galaxy is the Milky Way Galaxy (OUR GALAXY) and is trying to imply that humans (probably the Chinese) colonized this Heaven system via a special space station called "Chi" and spread from there to the rest of the galaxy 2,000 years ago in its most recent chapters... This basically just throws a huge wrench into Disney shit's continuity and it fits even less with Pre-Disney canon like KOTOR, Tales of the Jedi and Supernatural Encounters (what with Disney poorly trying to reference them as of late) which had humans already running about way way way before 2,000 years ago.

ThatStarWarsGirl has been reading a version of the translated series on her youtube and there's some links available on reddit that lead to a google doc which has only translated 10 chapters out of over 100, so a whole lot of shit is still missing and the translations are a bit more liberal to make it ""fit better".
Personally its best you don't waste your brain cells unless you enjoy self-imposed lobotomies.

Also here's its Wookieepedo page and its TV tropes page.

Now excuse me as I go cleanse myself.

And to think this High Republic shit is what Disney believes will start a whole new chapter in the SW saga for them and that Vow of Silver Dawn will be the key to making Disney Wars popular in China, which (as a reminder) has flopped hard over there and met with negative reception from both non-fans and Chinese fans.

Holy shit. There's pandering, and then there's...whatever the fuck this is.

Seriously, fuck The Rat and fuck KK Kathleen Kennedy. It's clear that they give no shits whatsoever about maintaining the artistic integrity of George's vision and the universe he and hundreds of other authors and artists created. All this for fucking money. I mean, yeah, they're a multinational conglomerate, they're supposed to make money - but do they not have any fucking pride?

Because from all appearances, Disney/Lucasfilm are run by absolute whores who will sell out any and all artistic and brand integrity in order to get money from those 1.2 billion plus Chinese consumers.

Amusing. So the Chinese books, which last I checked sold like dogshit even harder than the other books that Disney shat out, ruined the setting itself. The "Long time ago in a galaxy far away" spiel itself is now demolished.

Also China as the source of humanity... amazing.

No wonder people are saying Iger might be made ambassador to China.

Literal fucking mythology rape for the sole sake of corporate greed. Literally violating the sole premise of the franchise ("in a galaxy, far far away...") just to sell a product.
This is worse than Callista. This is worse than Waru. This is worse than space werewolves, giant insects, Traviss' Mandalorian grandstanding, Dennings' Liefeld-esque impulses, or any contentious otherworldly entities like Abeloth.

Anyone who ever critiqued the Expanded Universe to any capacity, particularly as inferior to the new canon, has officially no leg to stand on. This is a bigger travesty than anything the Bantam or Del Rey authors could ever conceive. For whatever flaws and foibles they had, they wouldn't dream of attempting something like this.

This is an active perversion of the universe George Lucas created, and if you support Disney beyond this point, you are officially part of the problem.

personally, I love the fact that chinese novel is coming out. because if anyone online or even IRL tries to tell me 'b-b-buh the sequel trilogy came out in theaters, and you MUST consider it to be canon!' I'll just link to this bullshit and declare that argument or any other that they want to throw up to defend the validity of Disney NU Wars canon as complete ass. so thanks Disney, for so nakedly not giving a shit so that I can mock your defenders even harder...unless they actually happen to be Chinese, which lmao - good luck getting any of those, considering how hard you flopped before!

I can't belive it. I can't fucking belive it. Is this actually canon? Will it be treating as canon to the rest of the star wars universe. They killed my favorite franchise. Those fuckinb commie bastards
