What I discovered was that there is a bacterial skin infection (most commonly on the foot) called Pitted keratolysis that somewhat resembles the trypophobia images:

I had that one season. It's one of those jungle rot/trench foot conditions. Basicially eats away the calluses on the bottom of your feet, and is horribly painful if you're rucking long distances. Pretty much the only real fix is soaking your feet in a bleach solution, and just toughing through a mild chemical burn and building your calluses back up.

That's the same shit I caught from the showers while on a field problem in Grafenwohr, even with brand new shower shoes.

Those cold-war latrines usually had at least an inch of standing water that never drained, anytime it rained, combined with the grunge coming off dozens of troops. Nobody ever mopped because those facilities were remote & little better than campground bunkers.

It took soaking my feet in peroxide & epsom every day for a week to get rid of it, and definitely took care of that particular phobia as well.

Worst thing about it too is that almost all of the training areas there are a bog, so the odds are high that you'd spend the entire rotation with your feet soaked and venerable to infections even before taking a shower.
