We all saw the signs of circulatory issues, over and above the obesity, a year (?) ago when her body started swelling unevenly, that's her poor heart not being strong enough to move fluid out of certain areas. Then the fact she can't get enough oxygen. Then the issues with her legs, etc.

While edema can have other causes, I have only ever seen edema like she is describing in obese patients with heart failure. Actually, I've only ever seen it in obese patients over the age of 60 but our girl is top of her class.

You guys can come at me for it, but it's very typical for Millenials and Gen-Z (which I may or may not be part of, it's irrelevant). Most were raised as spoiled kids (in french we even have the nickname "enfant-roi" - literally king-child - for them) and bloomed in a bunch of soyboys and fucktards who are offended by everything and, for the most part, won't take responsibilities for their own choices. Raised under the false pretense they are beautiful and wonderful whatever they do... it makes for some fucked up adults.

Chantal is a good example of that. It's everyone's fault but hers, and even if she's particularly exceptional and dumb, it's still in line with her generation. In these days and ages, you can't say or do anything without offending someone who's below 40yo, and it's automatically categorized as shaming. Only, psychologists, sociologists, and historians all agree that shaming promotes a better social cohesion. We know for a fact that could be useful for Chantal.

Chantal is a trainwreck, but also (when it comes to shaming) the reflection of her whole generation. The whole HAES movement that she embraced is also a consequence of that minding; 20 years ago you were fat and had to better yourself. Now you're fat and proud and who cares if you die at 36yo, get that cake girl because you're healthy even if you're pushing 450lbs!

ETA- Edema is only a symptom meaning tissue swelling because of fluid collection. There are different causes of edema - lymphatic, circulatory (leg swelling is common), venous, too much sodiums, hepatic and renal causes, allergic etc. Chinny undoubtedly has a variety of the above. But what she is referring to is a localized swelling due to inflammation and infection.

Those things are pretty unreliable, several years ago they used to call the new generation; anyone born after 1999 and anyone before Gen Y and now it has changed. Edema simply means there is fluid trapped where it shouldn’t be. She’s trying so hard to sell it so that people can’t “fat shame” her for it. However my money on today’s malady being caused by cellulitis secondary to poor hygiene. The oldies normally get in their legs due to a break in the skin and bacteria getting in.

Edema with no other context actually sounds worse as it could be ascites from her shot liver.
