US Joe Biden News Megathread - The Other Biden Derangement Syndrome Thread (with a side order of Fauci Derangement Syndrome)

Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

How convenient. Makes it a lot easier to cut Biden off when he is unable to hold a conversation.

If you Yanks get a $15/hr minimum wage are you finally going to stop with the "tipping" bullshit? The pisspoor hourly rate for servers is the main argument I heard for keeping it.
Probably not. That is worked into our culture so hard that those people are "expecting" a tip just for showing up.
I should mention that the idea of that class being sufficiently-sized is purely theoretical and will probably not work out, yeah.
1. Machinists have enough trouble with engineers who think we work magic.
2. This gives me the feeling that at some point the very tools we use will be "racist" because they reflect reality instead of their feelings.

lol jesus christ
Just look at this shit.

$5/gallon for gas? 4L to a gallon puts it at roughly $1.25/L. Is this supposed to be a bad thing? Current gas prices in vancouver BC varies between $1.31 and $1.33/L right now, which is about average for the last decade and a half or so

I'm not seeing the big deal here?

Your country is a bunch of faggots and soys. It's very simple to have low prices, as evidenced by the low low prices during Trump.

I tried to read that shit and it's dry. It seems to say that Texas can specify power plants as necessary and turn them on but they have to notify the EPA for approval and buy carbon offsets or some shit?

Like "here's permission to break the rules for this emergency but you have to document very thoroughly how and when they were broken so you can pay for it when this is over."

Can someone with actual reading comprehension explain it better?

That's basically it. I had to read it three times to understand it. The tl;dr is that after they exhausted everything they could under the rules, they had to wade through miles of red tape to go beyond the EPA regs. So while people were freezing and without water, our fed gov't was more concerned with the environmental impact of 1 WEEK of using energy sources that weren't officially approved.

If I interpreted it wrong, someone please correct me. The fact that they deliberately made it onerous just to figure out what they were saying during a crisis is a crime in itself.

No. No. No. No. This is 1984 style shit. This will not work. You cannot have a society function when math is just a "vague feeling" and there are multiple answers to the question.
The square root of four has multiple answers. Checkmate, bigot.

Tipping is the part of the employees' compensation package that varies with the amount of value they bring to the employer. It's like stock options or an annual bonus but instead of getting dividends or an annual check, you get cold hard cash every day. This performance-based compensation, with immediate feedback, is what drives certain segments of the American service industry, especially dining. It gives people the opportunity to earn more and it delivers every day. If it goes away and the earning potential of a server is reduced to the minimum wage, the quality of service will go down and retention will suffer.

It's funny because the left is hellbent on only having one society: their ideal one. As for function: when you're in control, you can create the rules and functions as you please.
Shit like this is why we have planes breaking apart midair. If implemented this will cause accidents and deaths.

Except to the left, they'll be fine with death and destruction it if it results in the elimination of their undesireables.

Do machinists even exist anymore? Most of the ones I knew got replaced with CNC’s, because it’s cheaper to have one programmer and 10 babysitters than 5 machinists.

It’s more about the swift rise. It was $2.04 a gallon by my house a couple months ago. (51 cents a litre). It’s now $2.45. (61 cents a litre).

Goddamnit. Then really what is the point??
Here's how it works according to a friend of mine that worked as a waiter.

They make 2.13 an hour.

If their tips don't meet the standard minimum wage, the owner of the restaurant has to cover the difference.

Waiters have to report on their tips for the purposes of taxes.

So the gag is this.

Waitstaff doesn't report on their tips and won't report the boss for not giving them even minimum wage.

In return, the boss doesn't report them for not reporting their tips.

So my friend was basically able to get on EBT, everything he paid in taxes he got over triple back, and yet! He was still pulling around 700 dollars a week, yet because of the wait staff scam, was considered well below the poverty line.

Sounds about right. And indeed it was a slog.
cept to the left, they'll be fine with death and destruction it if it results in the elimination of their undesireables.
That is not how structural failures work. There isn't a time and place for them to know when it will collapse. They would be unable to pick the target.

Yep. There are still one off jobs that it would more expensive to program then to just have a guy go out and machine it.

Also Machinists need to be able to fix what the programmer fucked up. I watched a machine plunge a cutting tool into a tombstone because the program was wrong. That actually happened twice because no one questioned the program. Granted it was a shitty machine shop but you can start to see where you actually need people checking things.

In my 20's when I didn't feel like cooking dinner I used to visit a chain buffet, $10 entry price, the servers would fight over who got to seat me in their section because all they had to do is make sure my drink was full and they would get a $10 tip.
Incentive is important, people view their wage as an entitlement from a faceless corporation, and as stated in Office Space they tend to do just enough to not get fired.
