Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

To Liam's defence, his comicbook, Xenotype, changed comicbooks and CG forever.

After his MONUMENTAL fuckup a lot of people will feel worried about backing unproven creators. @FROG signing Kyle did him and CG a favour and, moving on, CG publishers and campaign managers will have to come in and try and help the new creators.
@NasserRabadi13 could easily freelance as a campaign manager for most newcomers - he may not be as effective as many promoting his books but, hell, the boy can deliver each and every time.
#XeNoMore and Liam dealt a decisive blow to comicsgate, as predicted months ago, that Liam will kill CG as we know it - and damn, he exceeded all expectations!

I don't know if you're joking about Nasser, but really, he'd be very effective in that role. Nasser could easily make sure that books get published on or under budget. He should actually team up with other creators and work in that capacity for a small share of their campaigns earnings.

Not joking at all.
I see a real problem and an asset and put two and two together.

Also, down the line all the big CGers consolidating under AllCaps would make everybody and your customers more money, but I guess YBZ would not agree to this and Malin has his own business going on...

I'd be interested in those two, and that's about it. Jon Malin has his own plans, and he's a pretty clever dude. Zack would definitely sign on to ALL CAPS, but I'd need him to commit to livestreaming again, since his personality and fan interaction is what sells his comics. That will always be an obstacle to Zack, since he seems to want to disappear from all social media. So it's a no go there as well.

Liam isn't the first CG persona to fail to deliver on time, and he won't be the last. Pretty much everyone involved in CG has been late, and I think EVS being as late as he was with Cyberfrog: Bloodhoney only to receive huge amounts of support from his backers kind of gave the leeches like Micah Curtis, Wascampaign, Donal DeLay and Liam the go-ahead to promise to deliver by a certain date only to jerk off and then say, "Mea culpa, we're late! Oops!" Ethan kind of got the ball rolling on this entire thing with regards to timetables, ignoring that it's better to deliver early rather than late. EVS, though, can get away with it because he has actual name recognition as a former artist for DC and what-not, where-as the rest of these guys just seem lazy. Honestly, looking inwards as someone who doesn't give a shit about comic books but does care about consumer advocacy, I'd be looking at all these people who are branded together as "Comicsgate" and going, "Why the fuck can not one of these people do things on time?"

EVS, Malin, YBZ, Nasser and many more are people who have proven they can deliver.

EVS is late for his own reasons.

They won't be affected. But a lot of the newcomers will get extra burned. You can see the shift already, with many campaigns struggling.

I'm not saying newcomers aren't getting burned. I'm pointing out that since the beginning the movement has been habitually late in delivering products. if your leadership is lacking, then the newcomers will face even harsher scrutiny from backers.

I'm gonna try it first with some short stories.

Secret Comics Presents #1 is just me and Jason, but with issue #2 I'm gonna bring some others on board to do some 4 page shorts, see how well it works for me. And if that goes well, then Secret Comics Publishing will publish other people.

You're not going to believe this, but Cecil is smarter than Donal.
And Donal is smarter than Nasser. Respect for the subtle dig at Happless Ribadi. He's to dense to pick up on it.

It makes me laugh to hear people talking about fulfillment like it's rocket science or something.

The only reason Nasser gets his shit out on time is because he isn't a lazy prima-donna. He's a hard working prima-donna.

I don't see how Nasser telling lazy losers to be less lazy for a % of the funds would make a damn bit of difference.

I guess Nasser could give them some tips on postage because they're to lazy to Google it.

That will always be an obstacle to Zack, since he seems to want to disappear from all social media.
Zack's distaste for interaction with the mindless drones that constitute ComicsGate is a pretty good indicator that he's managed to hold on to some scrap of his soul in all of this.

Good for Meyer. Unfortunately Frog is right. Whoring oneself to the swarm is the best route to CG riches. Look how well prostitution has worked out for Nasser and JDA since they traded dignity for sheckles.
Thanks so much @NasserRabadi13 @FROG @TESTEFY-HD and everyone who made launch day awesome and made this my best single-day ever.

Obviously giving a frog a rusty trombone, if executed correctly, can lead to a 4 figure or sometimes even 5 figure payday.

Self respect is over rated. Congrats Jon.

They're working for me, then they better be less lazy. That goes for any publisher they're working for--once somebody is waiting on them, it becomes urgent.

Some people need somebody to motivate them. I don't know why that is. My own motivation comes as soon as I wake up, and I go to my computer and write. But some people need somebody to say "Hey, get to work."

This is also why I want to publish short stories from a few people first, just to see if they'll listen to me. Work out some short stories first for SCP, then if that goes well, I'll definitely take on other projects.

The campaign never ends!

Joining the winning team IS self respect. Why deliberately sabotage your own efforts just so that two anonymous shitheads codenamed "Newman" sarcastically applaud you for having "principles" or "soul" on a doxing website? Most people would throw both of you into a woodchipper for five bucks. I'd do it for half that.

Zack doesn't livestream because he has social anxiety issues. I can see how you'd confuse that with "a scrap of soul", but three pages ago, you were calling him a loser for ROCK N ROLL NINJA, so he'd probably stumpgrind you for fifty cents. He'd love to sell more comics to CGers, but he's afraid to interact with them after the Waid situation.

As for JDA, he's finally figured out that not being hostile to the CG customer base is the best answer for selling his books. And frankly, this one looks 100% better than his last.

Congrats, Jon. Keep making videos and talking up your comic.

Thank you. I will do just that. Everyone's buzzing about the art of this book, and we're finally dialing in on the retro-classic culture style which is what I'm in love with. I just hope Jesse and Matt make enough money want to do another one!

Also I listened to you guys who said to just discuss the episode instead of reading the Reddit theories. Here's the latest attempt at reviewing Unsolved Mysteries:
I'd call this video better than the ones where you read Reddit threads about the show. I think the downfall of this video is that you didn't care for the episode it was about. It didn't give you the kind of negative response that might be able to get some good zingers from it, instead it was a "this is boring" episode for you. Most people wouldn't make a video on something that doesn't get a significant positive or negative emotional response out of them. I think it's a good learning experience that you did make this video because it can help you recognize when there isn't good video content to be made from something. This is new territory for you, so little missteps are to be expected. Hopefully the next episode will get a better emotional response from you. It also wouldn't hurt to try some other shows so that you're not drawing from only one well. There are plenty of "murder-porn" shows out there to watch.

Cecil Hotel is what I'll watch after this, then probably revisit The Staircase.

Yeah, I didn't like this episode, but I wanted to review all of them.

It's funny.
I am near the end of reading his memoir of Meyer's time in the Marine Corps and he described how each time his unit got into a firefight during the Invasion of Iraq, he "wanted to build his mythology" (in retrospect, he admits this was stupid). He wanted to be the war hero he envisioned himself and he got that itch to prove himself in combat (which was few and far between). He also had this insane belief that he wouldn't be killed in combat because he was the main character of his own story (again, in retrospect he thought this was juvenile).
Despite this, he was willing to look out for those in his squad and get them some creature comforts (such as smuggling Pepsi cans from an Iraqi amusement park to them).
You're telling me this same guy is afraid to interact with CG backers?

On a related note, if any of you ever take the opportunity to read his memoir, there are some thread-worthy lolcows that Meyer dealt with. Most notably, a guy named Reed in his squad. This dude is a miserable, sorry excuse of a Marine and probably needed a psych evaluation before joining the Corps. On more than one occasion, this arrogant son of a bitch has a temper-tantrum and starts trying to prove what a tough guy he is, only to come off as childish to the point that everyone in Golf Company that interacted with him despised Reed. As I was reading along, I thought "Surely Reed would try to keep his head on straight while they were deployed in Iraq." Nope, he was still a shithead even when they were advancing to Bagdad. I am reminded of a saying in regards to people like Reed: "No matter how much you polish a turd, it's still a turd."

you were calling him a loser for ROCK N ROLL NINJA,
I mean, it's a very "UGGGHH" concept....there's "camp"/Nostalgia and then there's just straight up "NOOOOOO"/"xpac Heat"

I'm sorry- I love Rocky IV, "Real American" by Rick Derringer and Cannon Group films but I FUCKING HATE Rock N Roll Ninja

I think 2017-2019 really fucked Zack's head up. How many times has he said that the SJWs in comics were worse human beings than the terrorists he faced in combat?

Having Zack on a livestream means that he'll suddenly vanish when he get nervous without saying goodbye, and that's when everyone just wants to give him love. Now people are upset with him, so he's even less likely to meet and greet. A month or two ago he told me he would be doing even fewer videos and livestreams than he's doing now, while still producing more comics.

The dude isn't social on his best day. I think he just wants to fade away, truthfully.

"Rock N Roll" anything in comics is a bad idea. Comics don't have an audio track.

From what I can see, it looks like one of his more fun efforts. I don't get the hate.
