Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Haven't they started lumping together flu cases and covid cases last year anyway? For all this person knows, the flu numbers haven't changed much at all last year and their just added to the Covid pile.
Or, and maybe I'm being crazy here, the vectors through which flu travels most extensively have been dominated by covid.

Good against the S. African AND Brazil variants? Sounds good, but what about the Tibetan Variant, and the Antarctic Variant, and the Kazakhstani Variant, and the Norwegian Variant? Those, surely, will be announced next week, and they're all waaaaaaaaay worse than the current strains. Looks like we'll still be quadruple masking until 2027. Gotta stay safe, guys!

Shit like this is why I rarely feel any sympathy for people anymore. People want your sympathy but if the roles were reversed, they would most likely either show no sympathy or find your misery entertaining.
It's hard to have any sort of sympathy for those who A-Log IRL and have zero interest in returning the respect they expect and demand from others.

In other news:

Michigan's state senate wants to pass legislation that would remove race and wealth (or lack thereof) as determining factors when it comes to allocating the limited supply of vaccines. I suspect this would be vetoed by Governor Whitmer.

A relatively-new group of restaurants in Michigan's Macomb County filed a lawsuit over the 25% restriction on inside dining with the argument that their business has been taken away without just compensation. I have no idea if this has any sort of chance for success, plus the state supreme court shifted to a Democratic majority this year. In short, I'm not optimistic should the case get that far.

Well I ain't a scientist so idk what's true or not, but I did hear they were counting them all under one classification. I don't think our testing, at least in my 3rd world country, is accurate so I really wouldn't be surprised if people with the flu have been counted as Covid cases.

I've barely been following the rules since Coofception, eating outside, taking big fat dips, etc and I never caught the Coof. I did my first test and had extensive blood work done this week, nothing. Now that I said that I jinxed myself, but I've been acting as normal as possible and it's been fine.
I did the same, except I apparently caught the mega-doom plague that will kill us all and didn't even know I had it.
I'm currently waiting on the sooper-cereal long-term side effects to fuck me up for life, any day now.

Honestly, the best thing anyone can do right now is look after their general health.
Overweight? Fix that shit right now. Cut calories, exercise. Don't listen to anyone saying you're "losing too much" or "losing too fast" as long as your BMI is above normal. Don't @ me over BMI being unreliable, it's good enough.
Take a multivitamin, maybe take a lil extra vitamin D, especially if you are indoors a lot.
Personally I hope that karma is a thing and that it bites the hell out of some of the folks in charge of this shitshow.

Rise from the lockdowns like a phoenix from the ashes, with sculpted abs, chiseled pecs, and glutes so developed you can crack a walnut without breaking stride.

Your biceps and triceps bulging like gnarled oak, accentuated by your conan-like mane of hair, atop godlike shoulders.

No man can stop you as you have the stamina of three oxen.

The next trip to Candian Tire will be different.....look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!

No but seriously though I feel like if I can't get in the best shape of my life now, it's never going to happen. Need motivation for that extra rep? Think about lockdowns - rep complete!

BMI is unreliable for statistical analysis.

If you have six pack abs and your BMI tells you that you're slightly overweight, then you're obviously one of the heavier muscle mass groups; but otherwise yeah, BMI is a good "close enough" calculator.

What's worse is that this fucking absolute tard thinks that indefinitely not getting any flus or colds is a good thing that we should strive for.
In the general population, BMI actually has the opposite problem; it actually UNDERESTIMATES obesity (i.e. there are more people obese by body fat percentage than have BMI over 30). As it turns out, most of the country has very little muscle mass.

Last day of work (technically) today, interestingly just as management is pushing for people to start coming back (masked like retards, of course, though interestingly in my own office space with the other coworker who stayed onsite, masks were not required). Gonna miss having somewhat of an inside look at this insanity, at least in the medical circles they were in, late summer seems to be a return to "some form of normalcy", hoping that's at least an end to social distancing at the very least.

These days, weight, height, and waist size are more appropriate measures, and the average numbers are dire.

I hope after all this is over there is a serious overhaul of state governors emergency powers. It's insane that they're virtually unlimited and not even the courts can overturn them. Even the president doesn't have that kind of power.
The states should have a lot more power over themselves than the federal government, that's how it was originally intended. Your state voted to give the governors that power, they can vote to take it away.
