You know why he was so blunt with you? Because some psychologists are. Some aren't. If this one doesn't work for you, find another. It's not an easy process, but it's better than being a miserable sluthater that does nothing but whine.
I can't believe thickneckedslayer genuinely thinks that the psychologist isn't trained to focus on the patient's behavior and not sit there and "get redpilled." He's heard it all, I guarantee.

Personally, I think Thonis needs someone blunt. If they sugarcoat things for him, he'll probably just twist it around to mean whatever he wants. Though maybe that's just my innate bluntness talking.

It's almost like he's a trained professional who has dedicated his working life to listening to people's problems and offering legitimate, time tested methods to deal with said problems rather than someone you pay to agree with everything you say so you can validate your existence without having to put any effort in yourself to make things better. Nah, I agree with you entirely. It also goes with what @Frank Rizzo said; he thinks he's "smarter" than a professional... it's not about "outsmarting" them. They're trained to read into behavior and see where the "problem areas" lie. Like I said, he's seen everything, I guarantee it.

This. There's a gentleman who lives in my area that's a psychologist, and he's told me he's lost count of how many patients he's had he can tell are patting themselves on the back because they think they've one-upped him and blown his mind with the things they talk about.

Depending on how Thonis acts when he returns to the Farms (if ever, and if he's lucky he probably never will because he's moving on with his life), I'll agree that a very blunt approach is needed.
For instance, if he's go on about how his life is horrible and pathetic and shit again, he needs someone to sit him down and bluntly tell him that, yes, your life is shit, but the one thing that will 100% never improve it is bitching to a bunch of people that honestly have stopped caring 162 pages ago about how bad it is. Go get a girlfriend, go get a life, stop soapboxing to us because in all honesty we ran out of popcorn by page 100 and you're just putting us to sleep.
