Interesting spin, however I think you guys are looking at it all the wrong way. Now allow me to don my fedora and spin a scenario for you:
It is the year 2045. My friends, we have reached Singularity. In this time people wish to be machines and machines wish to be people. International law has prohibited commercial use of technologies in medical, biological or physiological enhancements of individuals. People cannot enhance their capabilities unless they have medical reasoning. Much like guns however, only criminals get the enhancements when the government blocks people from getting enhancements. Most people milling about look like you and I, however they are more attached to social media than ever before. Machines, in an effort to become more human, use accumulated knowledge to trick people into online relationships. These relationships are so vivid and real that people prefer them to human relationships. When people realize they cannot live without their information-based beau, they download their personalities and thoughts onto a drive and hook it into Heaven, a cloud of the personalities of people who have passed, and commit suicide. As criminals continue to obtain increasingly violent capabilities and information systems bring people to kill themselves, intelligent technologies run roughshod over the human race. Until...
Project Neuron, an initiative to fight back against the machines by exposing them to humanity's worst traits is hatched. An operative for the international front against rogue technologies identified a database compiled in the 2010's listing some of the worst examples of humanity ever hatched. This list is the lolcows.
In order to fight the machines, these people would have to be brought back to life or enhanced to their prime stages of life to be fully-functional. The lolcows, headed by both clownshirt and tomgirl Chris will be unleased onto the internet. Chris will make videos and posts on Facebook. Nick will make videos proclaiming his innocence. Pixyteri will take pictures and try to be the computer's waifu. And once the system has been weakened Chris, Nick, Pixyteri and the others will be fitted with special abilities allowing them to fight the cyborgs. Chris will even have Sonicu and Rosechu by his side.
And at the end, they find who was really behind it all. Null is really an alien from the planet Xenu who sought to use technology to create harmony in the human race. The lolcows all shit themselves and do nothing as Null escapes to the next planet. People wake up the next day fat, alone and scared. As Chris and the other lolcows are now the only ones left with technology affixed to their bodies, they rule the planet, controlling each region as their own.
