General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Choco being cute and lewd as usual.

Also, looking back in the same stream, I'm actually amazed that two instances of creepers blown up near her and somehow she manages to survive those two explosions and save her 200+ levels.

I'm sorry, what was the reason again why the EN holos can't just walk into the JP minecraft server without a tour guide? (and viceversa)

They actually can but EN manager didn't give them permission to play on JP server. This is actually makes HoloEN have some strain connection to their senpai rather than HoloID.

That's a stupid rrat that needs to die. The reason they can't just stroll into the JP server is because of the obvious language barrier. The great content coming out of the JP MC server all revolves around the various comedic interactions between the JP Holos. Having the non-JP speaking ENs like Ame and Gura just run around the JP server when all the JP senpais are there and hardly ever interact with them due to language barrier is going to be more socially-straining towards the JP Holos.

Y'all look back on the Roboco-Ame APEX collab and see how fucking strained and awkward it really was despite what the Reddit hugbox wanted to say about it being "cute". And the only reason it even worked to a certain degree was Ame's DGAF attitude about collabing with non-English speaking senpai. Hell, the second EN-JP Among Us collab was a fucking rough mess.

Having a dedicated EN server is the right play. If the plan is indeed to grow it organically when more EN gens launch in the near future then the current lack of activity in it is just that - growing pains. And EN Gen2 is going to have a great running start when they do join the server due to the material and EXP availability off the new community chests and farms Ina and Ame have set up.

Might be some interesting info later today. Let's see if it goes anywhere. The guy who runs the account seems sane enough that this is ACTUAL harassment, and not Internet "they disagreed with you" harassment.

But Moona's interactions with the JPs were like the best part of the HoloMC server for quite a while

  • Agree
Reactions: Grumpy and Eddie IX

Before she become legendary NPC she actually have many awkward collab with her senpai too. Like Biobreak said, language barrier.

I hate what Twitter has done to people. Anywhere else online he could (and would be expected to) have posted all the info he had with attachments and links, instead we get a vague tweet and have to wait for him to "process everything".

In his case, it's probably to process the photos/documents he's received. He's done a handful of larger info dumps before. Such as an LGBTQ+ vtuber Discord Server had a "trial" on one of its members.

This VTuberCringe guy is actually very civil and sane, it's not just some "hurr durr indies bad"

I thought Duolingo was a mobile only app?
You can easily use it on a desktop as well - in my opinion web version of duolingo is better (as you can install adblock).

Marine seems comfortable with stumbling through English sentences until she gets things right which is a good indication
This. You cannot improve a skill without practicing it, and speaking in a foreign language you haven't learned that well yet will make you sound (and feel) like a retard. This is normal and in casual situations most people should understand it. Marine either gets this fact or just doesn't give a fuck and tries to speak: she even turned it into a shtick, which will get less funny with time, as she is progressing, just compare her streams from the beginning of 2020 to the recent ones (at least in my opinion the progess is noticeable).
The same situation is with other language-related skills: listen even if you understand next to nothing, you will learn faster. Try reading (but for Japanese better learn the basic kanji first) just to get to know the language and so on.

Been using Busuu for two weeks., It's actually pretty good. Much better than Doulingo
It has been mentioned in this thread, but use apps only as a supplement/repetition tool. You can achieve much more with a tutor, or - if you can - enroll into a language course with people on the similar level to yours. You won't feel awkward when trying to speak with them and you should notice an improvement very quickly.
If you don't want to pay for lessons and you want to learn Japanese as a hobby, I recommend downloading Genki textbook, but without practice your progress will be painfully slow. Throw many things into the mix: Genki, apps (Anki, Duolingo - Busuu is great for beginner levels of European languages and maybe for beginner leves of Japanese as well, but their content for intermediate level sucks in my opinion), listen to streams, try reading some informative Fubuki tweets:

The Minecraft server separation might be something that has not been fully discussed internally. I think I have vague memories of Ollie or Reine considering to build a house there on the EN server, and then deciding against it because they did not want to split their attention between two servers.

Nijisanji also currently streams at odd hours for Western viewership. Like right now at 11am EST, Hanna Machia is live streaming Omori to 601 viewers. She'd probably get more attention if her streaming sched is more western friendly but it's already a tough ask considering the time difference. And with EN Gen2 in the horizon, western prime streaming slots (3pm to midnight) are set to be dominated by Holo ENs. If you're a vtuber trying to increase your viewership in Youtube, streaming live smack dab in the middle of subsequent Ina, Gura, & Ame streams is already ludicrous. Imagine adding a handful of other new Holo ENs in the mix. They're already cannibalizing viewers from each other and that's set to increase unless they proactively manage their schedules. Nijisanji isn't just going to muscle their way into that unless the talent they push into those streaming slots aren't already extraordinarily popular to begin with and have a dedicated fanbase.

IMO there's still room for some additional vtubers to muscle in on Hololive EN's dominating hold, but it's not going to be as immediately successful as before. The time of easy growth and instant 800k-million subs is over; much like the Japanese market now any popularity is only going be achieved through hard work, thankless grinding, and smart stream management. Niji can do it, but they'll need talents who can both appeal to Western audiences and have the drive required for long-term growth. It remains to be seen if they can manage it.

We'll get a better idea of the EN viewership ceiling this summer though; both Hololive and Niji EN should be debuting around then and Gura is likely to hit 3 million subs at a similar time (if her trajectory holds). I think the new girls (especially Hololive) will do fine regardless, but the milestone now won't be first to a million - it'll to be first to 500k.

I'm not gonna waste my life reading that, any tldr?
I read all of it cause my free time is infinite and besides almost falling asleep I feel like literally nothing happened. 2 cunts want apologies while the mod team takes 3 years to give them official statements cause they have fucking lives and so most of it reads like those 2 cunts waving around their entitlement schlongs in a pity party, I would want someone to make an objection.lol out of it just to prove this "trial's" insomnia-curing properties

As someone who started learning basic hiragana just the other night, I’m proud to say that I can understand 98% of that tweet. Yay go me

IIRC he posted a picture from here to his Twitter and I'm pretty sure that he lurks here. Also, there's a VTuber thread on ResetEra?View attachment 1949871
Someone tell them about the GTA V nigga moments that way they’ll ban talk of Hololive. That way they won’t poison the water hole more than it already is

Yeah, I mainly use Busuu to learn hiragana and katakana. I do have the Genki books, just haven't really started studying them yet

This is the thread they composed for that topic.

Well reading that trial was a pain in the ass, anyone willing to figure out what the hell happened here

tl;dr, Cringe sperg who rated vtubers boobs apparently flirted with a bunch of indies in DMs in his cringe, sperg fashion, failed, made them feel "unsafe", and the whole thread is basically nothing but screenshots of replies celebrating the fact that the sperg got suspended and everyone going "he was an awkward creep who flirted with me once, I felt sexually harassed!".

Nobody provided any receipts of said DMs or anything to back up their claims (or, at the very least, Vtuber Cringe didn't provide any themself), so it's kind of a big nothingburger in terms of content.
