Steve1989MREInfo / Steve1989 / Steve Thomas - that guy that eats old MREs

It is made of fail and regret and sadness.
It's also what subway's "sandwich artists" reach to by default it seems.

"Yeah, and mayo on that..."

<'Artist' reaches for the Fat Free mayo>

"I just ordered a steak sandwich with added bacon and extra cheese. What part of that sounds like I want fat free mayonnaise?"

I know Steve uploads irregularly and being gone a month is not new for him but I hope he's alright. I get not wanting to get involved with drama on twitter and it's why he doesn't have one but at least a community post consisting of "nice!" just to verify he hasnt been hospitalized again and is still with us would be nice.

On a lighter note... Smoking a hundred year old perfectly aged cigarette after eating raf emergency ration seems to have given Steve the memories of a soldier defending Malta from Italy.

Let us not become reactionary about the whole "pop culture memorabilia" thing. Odin's nuts, people are allowed to like things.
Steve's back wall is becoming a bit cluttered in my opinion, but Christ, remember when displaying trinkets and knicknacks like that was a reflection of the stuff you actually enjoyed instead of just being a huge corporate consoomer wankfest? Its good to see at least one guy is keeping the dream alive.

(Steve had me at the framed picture of Kyle Reese by the way)

I have posters of the Friday the 13th game, part 8, nightmare on elm St, and gremlins 2 on my wall and I legit enjoy all those things not because corporate Hollywood tells me too.

Steve keeps old war posters (food is a weapon don't waste it and loose talk costs lives) because he loves military history. A novel thing to take pride and joy in. Really it's not liking things that's the problem it's pretending to like things because it's what the mass media says is "popular " that makes guys from fake fans to...well...

But this thread is about Steve. A guy who does what he loves and as someone on his comments once said :"is like that cool older brother or awesome uncle we all wish we had."

I find it weird his descriptions all have his catchphrases copyrighted. Seems a little egotistical.

Subway sandwiches and Subways have (to me) an odd smell. I cannot imagine the smell of fail and despair in an old MRE.

Its not on the newest ones. Its not copyright/(c) but (tm), which is an unregistered trademark (and honestly those phrases are what he is known for outside of eating food that would kill us mere mortals). (tm) has no legal meaning nor gives the "holder" any special legal rights.

I kind of want to say it was him showing off his sense of humor.

Yeah, Steve is a humble guy, him 'trademarking' his catchphrases is just an example of self-deprecating humour.

This dude is awesome and wholesome. Legitimately the Bob Ross of MRE reviewers. Kinda wish there were more cigarette reviews, seeing those gives me the kind of enjoyment I had as a smoker myself.

Always a pleasure to see his vids.

i swear that one time he opened a can of 1900-1914 era smokes and took a drag made the soul of a solider from the Boer war-wwI briefly possess steve's body to retell what it was like defending Malta or fighting the Germans in the trenches...or possibly the souls of solders of several wars through history since Steve recounted accoutns of every army from roman legionaries to the RAF at the Somme when he smoked that can of preserved cigarettes

I always love seeing Steve take a drag off a cigarette older than he is. He makes it seem wholesome. The only cigarettes I actually miss are Dunhill though.

if he announced he was selling them $100 a pop, they'd sell out instantly. I know i'd be in line.

Been a long time since a new Steve...

Since I'm here with the turbo-stalkers of the Kiwifarms, I can trust one of you would notice if his death certificate happened to get posted, right?

Right?

(:_(
Steve is all good and working on something big, according to this comment posted on his last upload.

Not sure if this is true or not, but I'm not sure why it wouldn't be. That said, I'm very much looking forward to what Steve's got planned next.
