Not every JP Holo is going to be as accommodating as Pekora. And TBH, Pekora being willing to power through the language barrier is what made the rest of all that possible. There's a unique and charming novelty to the JP-English language struggle that is going to get old really quick once you throw a couple more other EOP kouhais they have to deal with on a more regular basis than the rare & occasional Moona interaction they can choose to skirt around if they're not in the mood for it.

What? Who specified Pekora
The dynamic "Moona encounters" had with JPs made them some very fun moments

There's definitely room for collabs between them at least, but yeah I agree that language barrier is a good-ish enough reason to want to keep a few servers going.

What I'd do personally is establish a "Global" server for major event collabs like the sports festival, or for people who want to challenge that language barrier head on, like Pekora/Moona, or Ollie.

Or a further idea, make the whole thing a single Global server, and the existing "servers" into dimensions, the EN overworld dimension, the JP overworld dimension, the global mining dimension (technically the "Resource Server" in JP is just a dimension, not its own whole server, I've been resisting the urge to call it the mining dimension for a minute) then the End and Nether, and portals in the "Town Square" for visits.

Then you can have them install the mumble plugin that enables proximity voice chat

and I'm just talking out of my ass with crazy ideas at this point.

I think that's a very succinct description of what I was trying to say/describe - not to mention the added fan pressure to constantly interact.

Please, Path of Pain is not that painful. Just need hard memorization and the tenacity to finish it. Rikka even did it in his latest Hollow Knight stream.

Now, the Pantheon of Hallownest from Godmaster DLC. That is a different story.

If you don't want to pay for lessons and you want to learn Japanese as a hobby, I recommend downloading Genki textbook, but without practice your progress will be painfully slow. Throw many things into the mix: Genki, apps (Anki, Duolingo - Busuu is great for beginner levels of European languages and maybe for beginner leves of Japanese as well, but their content for intermediate level sucks in my opinion), listen to streams, try reading some informative Fubuki tweets:

So I'm actually the reverse of (I assume) most people. I started off pretty good for a beginner level for grammar, and totally 0 knowledge of kanji. After several months on WaniKani now I've made really great progress with kanji, but at the same time I've neglected the grammar part. So while I can understand bits and pieces when I'm listening to JP VTubers, I totally suck when trying to talk to somebody. I might have a better shot if I'm just communicating via text.

I really stand by WaniKani tbh, if only there's a good SRS tool for grammar that's also dynamic. Problem I have with Genki is that I feel like it works better if you're going through the textbook with somebody else, as a lot of their exercises often involve conversations. Which is fine, but it hampers me down personally when trying to go solo.
