He's so desperate for validation that he'll try and do anything. And he's one of those fuckers that, if he doesn't see immediate success, feels like he has to move on to something else. It's always something new and wacky when he already had an established formula that works. If you want an example of an anime youtuber who kept doing the same kind of content but is still beloved, look at Demolition D. A guy who mainly did a certain style of video, went dark, came back, did the exact same thing he always did, and knocked it out of the park.

For the love of god, as a creative type, if you have something you're good at just keep doing it. Get really, really good at it. Knock that shit out of the park. Move mountains, set standards, reinvent within your niche, don't pick a new niche. It's such a basic principle and it's outstanding that Digibro hasn't grasped this after all this time.

Ever notice how so many people who liked Digi are quick to point to wildly different content for what's good? He picked up multiple fanbases and you can't do that. You want one group of people who likes one thing and you cater to them. If you have a bunch of different groups you're trying to cater to, you'll never make them all happy. It's better to have one unified audience. If you fuck this up, you're in for trouble. It's content-creator 101. It doesn't matter if you're doing art, animation, whatever. Maybe if you're a writer or musician you can get away with it but Digibro tried that and he fucking failed, so, lol.

You could maybe say, "maybe they're in it for him", but now we've entered this loop. You can't be 'in it' just for Digi because he's reinventing himself so much. You can't like Digi, you can only like a period of Digi. No other youtuber does this. This isn't a thing you do. It's pretty much just him and he's a gleaming beacon as to why you don't fucking do this.

I mean, he practically introduced a lot of people who were new to anime to stuff like Pani Poni Dash! and Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei, along with many other works through his Old Ass anime cast series. I wish he went through with his promises and instead of trooning out he actually would finish that fucking SHAFT analysis and Shinbo's trajectory videos that he promised since 2017.

With the difference that the average /r/anime redditor grows up and gets a job while Conrad's livelihood depended on talking about the chinese cartoons he wasn't interested in anymore.

He never had much interest in anime from before his time or any deeper insight into the industry, like Canipa Effect for example. His "analysis" is pointing out random flaws in badly written shows, And even that comes of as dishonest because you know he would gobble the shit up if it just had lolis making out.

There are videos Conrad did in the past that actually had some artistic value to them and were more experimental in nature. Not the new music shit that's garbage, but the stuff like S A T I S F Y I N G V I D E O and the like where it's just unfiltered Digi talking about random shit with random editing. He's absolutely a cow, a degenerate horrible one, but that's not to say he wasn't interesting. The high tier ones edited by Davoo too also have documentary quality editing, but that's all gone now.

I don't even know what we're disageeing about. Of course he cared. "Honeymoon phase" I called it. They all care when they're teenagers and anime is the best shit ever and their favorite anime of the season is the bestererest shit of all times and universes and a "must watch" of course. They all care until they don't and then it's "They don't make anime anymore like they used to." I'm sure he still loves the stuff from his passionate phase. As much as Digi tried to get to the core appeal and message a show might have, I would say yes; He was the person aside from some other video game reviewers that taught me that the paid tabloid/subscription/gamingsite/animesite industry is fucked as a whole and that it's impossible to grade a piece of fiction by five categories, divide the score and call it a day.

There is a lot that goes into a review and it will almost always be tainted by the reviewers tastes, as best as he/she tries to keep opinions out of it. Thus it becomes important to know if the review's tastes align with your own and how they differ. I think this is the part where Digi eventually (under the influence of drugs and earning enough money) forgot that people watched him for his takes on media and not the reverse, how every piece of media relates to him. It's been a gradual slope that started around the rant/vlog era.

Now he just seems dedicated to fucking up even faster. I wonder how his brother feels about recording khantent now that he openly said (well.. not him but the Golden Bitch himself telling everyone on the PCP) he doesn't know what to call his brother anymore. People change and Digi just went over the edge. I mean every guy has entertained the thought "I wonder what it feels like to have tits and a cunt", but deluding yourself into thinking you were always more girly than manly and exaggerating stuff from your past to make the present sound more reasonable is just another escape mechanism. I really liked that video too. I think it's how I first learned of him. He offered a different kind of content to AniTube whereas folks like Gigguk and Mother's Basement (who has his own skeletons in the closet, yes, I know) were more focused on comedy. Digi, while he could be funny at times, was more just focused on in-depth analysis a la Pedantic Romantic (who also went troon, wonder if he had some influence over him) or Canipa Effect.

It feels like the end of an era.
