Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

I'm neither here nor there on the Chibi art style, I have no interest in the Gen4 remakes cause I have Diamond and I prefer the pixel art from that game.

As far as we've been told this game is adding nothing new, no post Sinnoh Pokemon, no regional forms, no gigantomax(which I don't care about but there was excitement for).

Ruby/Sapphire needed a remake, cause in that game Move type still determined attack stat(All psychic used special attack, all fighting used attack, etc). AFAIK since Gen4 there have only been minor tweaks to the base game mechanics. I think hidden abilities is the only thing missing that isn't a generational gimmick(Dynamax), how specific moves work, or playing with minor numbers(Attack strengths, catch rates, etc)

There's definitely some QOL stuff like infinite-use TM's but yeah, gen 4 with the 2D sprites in a low-poly 3D worldmap is pretty much peak Pokemon artstyle for me. I was never a huge fan of the animated gen 5 sprites, animated pixel art that isn't hand-drawn frame-by-frame always looks a bit wonky because pixel art does NOT do well with rotation operations.

oh god, why did you have to remind me.

*takes a drag* Hey, I just thought of something funny, man.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if Defog is still in the remake?

*giggles* 'Cause it's not like there's other ways to get rid of the fog. Y'know? Just fog everywhere. HMs are easier to handle, now, but fog is iconic to Sinnoh.

And-and what if Munchlax still remains a 1% encounter rate on four randomized honey trees? And Pokémon'll still take six hours to spawn, but you can't mess with the clock now thanks to satellite. Gotta work for it, tubby! *wheezy laughter*

Oh, and no good Fire-types in the game, still! *slaps knee*

But hey, you can't complain because we'll consider giving you your Battle Frontier and Distortion World! And sure, toss in Darkrai and Shaymin proper, too, to placate. What's that, Arceus event? What do you think Pokémon Legends is for? Don't be greedy, man!

Platinum is better. Hopefully they have at least some of its content, but it's the Pokemon Company.

That said, it's funny that people were pissed that ORAS changed too much, and now they're mad that the D/P remakes are changing too little. The Pokemon fanbase is really fucking autistic.

The website seems to indicate otherwise, if "modern conveniences" means what I think it does.

I'm pretty optimistic for the remake. As someone posted earlier, it's being worked on by third party company with some decent games under their belt.

The flaws of the DPP are apparent when compared to the later entries and I interpret the faithfulness being in terms of style to the original (hence the chibi models). The way I see it, there aren't many ways that they can screw the pooch on this one.

Yeah, I didn't get that. I thought they did a good job with ORAS and that was my favorite generation of games so I was extra critical. People are fucking retarded.

Nothing to say that Kari didn't say better. D/P was a trash game, easily the worst Pokemon made (even including the SwSh trainwreck). It needs more than just a coat of paint.

I will still miss the game corner. RIP PokeSlots.

I prefer Platinum over DP. I think Platinum fixed the slow leveling and HP draining shit that DP had. I can't remember fondly.

Red and Green are far worse than Diamond and Pearl. At least Diamond and Pearl aren't held together coding wise with a band of tape. You're also forgetting X and Y. D/P was annoying because of how slow and annoying some of its gameplay elements were, and Platinum fixed a fair amount of those issues. The remakes are guaranteed to keep those changes for the most part. The problem is if they decide it's a good idea to not include the very good content and pacing changes Platinum had.

Red and Green is kind of cheating given it was the first entry into the series and X and Y was pretty mediocre, but calling it the worse game is pushing it.

I mean, Diamond and Pearl are really just mediocre. Compared to the rest of the series X and Y stand out as probably the worst outside of Red and Green.

Yeah, I'm just keeping in mind we've seen like... two minutes of footage? Most of it being the chibis toddling around. We really have no idea how 'faithful' it'll be mechanically. But with how hard they've been trying to steer away from HMs recently, I feel like going back to when HMs were at their worst without doing something about that... just wouldn't make sense.

It looks like the Underground is still there, which is definitely interesting.

Don't remind me. They removed the slot machines because of "muh gambling", which was fucking retarded for the time. And now is even dumber now that every non-Nintendo game marketed towards kids has real money gambling out the ass.

Is it weird that I don't mind the chibi models for NPCs, but the MC models bother me? Maybe its something about the camera. Maybe its my burned in memories of starring at the old ones for hours as a kid.

I got into Gen IV late so the Underground was pretty much dead by the time I went through Sinnoh on my own. It was apparently really fun when fully utilized from what I've heard, so I hope I can experience that at least once.
