Serious though, Shaner's no worse than anyone else who likes trains. The whole fandom is autistic as hell and crazy-retarded to go with it. Like, what's the appeal of trains? Normal people don't even think about trains unless they just have to commute somewhere or whatever being obsessed with trains is like being obsessed with bricks or shovels or some other completely mundane object nobody gives any thought to. How can you be a railfan and without a trace of irony laugh at somebody else for being autistic?

I think it might be the nostalgia factor. Lets face it with tech these days everything seems so distant. Old Trains and Railines bring people back to a feeling that there is machinery and technology that is understandable and knowable. I think people like trains for the same reason that SteamPunk is still pretty intriguing to people.

To some people it is a hobby that links back to an old and seemingly lost world, a lost version of America if you will. There is something a bit romantic about old railines and travel through them that is just lost in our function over form modern blocked world.

Have you ever longed for a world long lost, @Dynastia ?
