Plagued Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

Sneakerheads are probably the most sociable acceptable consumer, as musicians, movie stars, and influencers on social media are pushing this trend. These people, like all other consumers in this thread, boast about spending $10,000+ on sneakers to not wear them but just look at them in cases, but like others they are replacing an actual personality with collecting mass produced shoes. Pre-Corona the re-sale market for sneakers was $2 Billion, but apparently the market has dipped 4%, so there doesn't seem to any real trend in slowing this down as this trend is still is being pushed on social media.

And a lot of these normal people end be getting scammed, but are for some reason are happy about it and refuse to out the scammer.

Have we talked about car consoomers?

At this point it's became normal for "enthusiast" cars - new Corvette, Supra, Focus RS, etc. - to be marked up for those who can't wait.

But the practice has been spreading, and last year even a Hyundai crossover wasn't safe from consoomers.View attachment 1956942

This isn't anything new. Go to any lower end apartment complex in America and you're certain to find a parking lot sprinkled with $50,000 Ford Superdutys and Chevy Duramaxes. All of them owned by stupid people driving themselves poor with $800 car payments for a work truck they drive to their shift at Applebee's.

If I was some radical Muslim imam with a large following I'd definitely play this video frequently to show my flock why the westerner is weak and deserving to be on the receiving end of our conquest.
I really don't know whats stopping Russia or China from just waging a land invasion of the US at this point. They could legit pull it off with little to no effective resistance.

Probably because
1. The US makes china trillions from outsourcing and general trade, attacking your biggest customer means you loose that profit right there.
2. Another World war would start, with militaries from around the world gunning for China, whilst china has the largest military it doesn't mean they'd be able to withstand a whole world war against them.
3. the US has nukes as a deterrent, if the country was being sieged and was about to be fully taken over, don't expect them not to completely glass your country with like 30 nukes as a last dying breath.

That seems to be the case with most modern young communists. They didn't come to this conclusion because capitalists screwed them over; in fact, they buy stuff from the capitalists all the time. Most of these twats are socialists because they befriended socialists, wanted to fit in with socialists, or had a "cool teacher" who was socialist and who won them over. These twats don't understand that in an ACTUAL socialist revolution, they'd be the first to get shot, since most of them are well-to-do brats who can drop thousands of dollars to go to a class where a professor repeats socialist propaganda to their faces. When the actual Communist Revolution comes, you'll see farmers and hood rats going after these "useful idiots".

Students have traditionally been the vanguards of successful socialist uprisings. I wish people would stop gloating about how all the limousine liberals are supposedly going to get liquidated whenever the mythical Red Terror 2.0 arrives. Realistically, we are already living through the beginning stages of a very slow-moving 1917.
Our Cheka will not be composed of rednecks and ghetto dwellers, as leftists since Marcuse have largely given up on trying to reach conservative, White rural/Rust Belt America. Even traditional Marxist-Leninists prioritized mobilizing urban proles over the rural poor as it was (correctly) believed that the former had more "class consciousness." Ghetto dwellers will definitely be represented among the rank and file, but to a much lesser extent among leadership.
No, the precursor to a potential future American Cheka is already here in the form of various "anti-fascist" groups like the SRA, John Brown Gun Club, various black bloc cells, left-wing campus groups, etc. Just like with these groups, the American Cheka would be founded, funded organized, and led by Jews and a few upper middle-class/upper class self-hating whites. The public face of its leadership would have a large black/Hispanic component, and its rank and file would eventually accumulate a large number of blacks (once it became clear to them that the Cheka would provide an opportunity to enact vengeance against Whites without any repercussions), but it's leadership would be as predominantly Jewish as its founding ideology.
Soy-filled antifags being put up against the wall by jackbooted tankies is a fantasy of right-wingers who want to imagine that at least their enemies will suffer as much as they will under (((Bolshevism))), as well as an occasional fear of deluded anarchists who start to believe their own propaganda about the supposedly omnipresent "danger of fascism." Many of the leaders of the initial Communist uprisings in Russia lived pretty comfortably pre-revolution, and just about all of them lived more comfortably afterwards than they did before.
This is because Communist uprisings are not actually uprisings so much as they are massive wealth/power transfers to the (((academic class))) and (((intellectual class))) that already hold tremendous power in contemporary America.

I just wanted to include this one, it has a powerful energy.

I still refuse to believe this is real. He literally starts crying on the first frame - who the fuck gets that excited over a damn Star Wars movie?
I also hope it's not real. Normally I don't watch reaction videos, but for the sake of this thread I watched that one. This pushes the limits of my tolerance. If it's real, then he loves Star Wars too much and needs to re-evalute his priorities in life.

You are a coonsumer the moment you become a collector, it's just an autistic phrase for a word that already existed.
It depends. Not every collection is based on corporate pop culture products. Even then, just collecting stuff for your own private enjoyment isn't necessarily a bad thing. Not every collector is like that Star Wars guy and the Funko Pop fanatics in this thread.

Not really sure I'd agree with that one. There's a lot of people who collect things like coins and art just purely because "they're a cool piece of history." I think collectors who collect based off of popular trends are certainly consoomers, but I wouldn't say all collectors are consoomers.

The consumerism in the custom mechanical keyboard community is out of control. They spend hundreds of dollars on expensive keycaps, switches, and cables, and see their keyboards as flashy decorations they hoard more and more of, not tools they use every day. And then there's the social pressure to keep consooming in the community because of limited run keycaps and switches. You'll see these keyboard enthusiasts talking about how they had to get in on a group buy for new keycaps just because of FOMO (fear of missing out). And when they buy new keycaps, oops might as well buy new everything else to make another board.
