the slightly more nefarious and victim-complex high functioning autistic people on the internet, especially men (aka, can feed and dress themselves, can probably hold a job), like to pretend they're low functioning enough to get away with making people seriously uncomfortable with antisocial actions (like wearing kindergartener clothing in public, shouting at people, or being sick perverts), and use their autism as an excuse, but go back to their normal HFA selves later. it's actually a documented phenomenon in psychology. you might see the next part coming if you read my posts: autistic females rarely do this.

I was going back through my posts on this thread to see if I said anything prescient and I got this:

I'm both confused and horrified at what her ideal sex ed class would be. She wants public schools to use tax dollars to...make children better at sex? Then have the teacher sperg about LGBT stuff? Why? What does that accomplish? The whole point of sex ed is supposed to be to protect them from teen pregnancies (presumably the "heternomative" part since this is more common) and STDS. The argument is that high school kids are going to get involved with that anyway and not teaching them about protection could lead to either and ruin their life. Why would the state need, want, or should even consider teaching children how to perform pleasurable gay sex? Am I entirely misreading the argument? It seems encouraging sexual activity would entirely defeat the point and get more STDS and teen pregnancies.

Hell Mystic Mind is someone a kid absolutely taught zero things about stranger danger would immediately be in a fight or flight mode if he were to approach them I'm assuming that kid at the museum was just terrified as hell and Mystic is just skewing the story saying "Oh the kid was absolutely fine with me approaching him and asking him about fuzzy dinosaurs."

I can understand the impulse to chat to a child, especially if you've got a child around their age, or they remind you of your nephew/niece/whatever. Kids are sweet, and them being enthusiastic about a dinosaur is endearing.

I do not understand actually going up to random children and toddlers and engaging with them about a "fuzzy dinosaur". If you're autistic you might not understand why it's inappropriate, but autistic people are capable of learning "This is socially inappropriate and I should not do it even though I don't really get that". Severely autistic people might not manage to understand that, but severely autistic people also aren't going to go on holiday and visit museums by themselves, or come up with justifications about how they used to only talk to kids about their "special interests" in case they got bullied by adults.

Sidenote does anyone find the specific mention of "fuzzy" dinosaurs a red flag? Like fuzzy is a completely innocuous word, but dinosaurs aren't fuzzy and the word in this context is making me think of ABDL shit, just like how they go on about being stinky.
