General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I love how Coco is enjoying herself so much by playing old-school Mario for the first time. Her reactions are so pure 🧡
She is slowly joining the nintentrash legions

Btw im noticing a pattern of holos playing Pretty Derby and for some reason Botan picked the tomboy and Kanata picked the shy one, (Miko picked herself)

Did the suits at WWE walk back that weird psuedo-policy they wanted to enact where they just suddenly declared they own the talents' Twitch channels? Maybe they were afraid Twitch was going to create another Zack Ryder.

I don't pay too much attention to wrestling anymore but I remember that sent some waves of frustration through the talent, and Paige in particular, not sure what ultimately came of it.

Maybe JiBo is technically a WWE-owned property? That'd be fucked.

WWE themselves on Wrestling Observer said this: "The new policy, which they say is not dissimilar to policies they have had for the past several months, is that talent is banned from monetizing their Twitter and Instagram by working with third parties. The company had already had this policy with Twitch, Cameo and other social media channels but had not specifically included Twitter and Instagram."

AJ Styles, who used to stream on twitch, has stopped doing so for 4 months (I think?). But, the channels on youtube like UpUpDownDown and Asuka's KanaChanTV still produce content.

talent is banned from monetizing their Twitter and Instagram by working with third parties.

At the risk of dragging the thread off-topic, what does "Third Parties" mean in this case? Would Twitter/Twitch themselves count as a third party or is it just that we'll never see BigE talk about protecting your online privacy with NordVPN?

Back to Chuubas.

Can any Kiara subs tell if she's actually being shadowbanned, as in properly? She's claiming it on reddit, but I've always thought the shadowbanning thing was being overblown because even channels claiming being shadowbanned I still see their videos on my sub page.

In order to not go off-topic too much, I will answer every thing.

No clue. It's up to WWE. Good luck with that shit.

Not a sub, but I did search on youtube "Takanashi Kiara" late at night and her channel would not show up, and it still does not show up as of right now. Unless Youtube is fucky on my end, something is going on. A reminder that shadowbanned doesn't mean you can't necessarily find the channel's videos, but you will certainly not find the channel with a simple search on youtube.

Somebody who claims not to be Haachama had their "debut" on Haachama's channel today.

I use Holotools pretty much exclusively so it doesn't really affect me, but I just checked and she doesn't show up in my subscriptions video feed as live whereas it does show everyone else's stream.

I also cannot find her channel from a search, though her Hinotori and original debut show up.

Just piling on this since I'm playing Kiara's Atelier livestream right now on the background and she literally just addressed this from a viewer question:

"Kiara, are you fighting YouTube?"

"We are in contact, but they're not doing anything... it seems with this shadowbanned thing, it's such an automatic thing that when someone gets shadowbanned, they don't seem to know what to do"

Also said she'll try to advertise/post her streams on reddit just to notify everyone.

So what she's essentially saying is that the algorithm is the one calling the shots over there at YouTube, instead of actual people. Just fucking rename it to Skynet already, you dumbfucks.

Sounds convincingly her to me, but then again I'm a terrible judge of voices. I once saw a doxx of all Holotubers and I quickly forgot who's who when I encountered it again few weeks later.

I saw that pop up in my recommended feed actually. People are saying the one in red is A-Chan. But I honestly couldn't tell you. Just sounding like a person. . . unless it is unique.

Edit: Yeah, that is Canan. I didn't look at the video, just the title and the channel and thought it was the other one. My bad.

Sounds a lot like her. I recall her mentioning that she's too short to properly sit in chairs and that lass looks like she barely fits while hanging off the edge, so I say it's a pretty strong candidate

edit: what the fuck is this channel? these uploads for from 4-8 years ago

That kind of fidelity in facial expression and hand-tracking eerily feels like she's using one of those body-suits that CodeMiko has - like what she's demoing in the timestamped clip below:

Take note later on in the clip that Miko specifically mentions hand-tracking being worth $4k.
It's not full body like Miko, it's the better iphone tracking being more commercially available as the various face-tracking apps update to use it and new modeling/rigging techniques that work with the better face-tracking. My understanding is it's a lot like the technique that hololive uses already.

Other Vshojo-adjacent vtubers have models with it (Bunny_Gif has it already and Veibae has been teasing bits of her new model) and Mousey confirmed a new 3d model with it is in the works.

Haven't seen much from this Snuffy character, but the face and hand tracking in just the first thirty seconds is incredible for her model. I am surprised by how much better some of these indie models and tracking are when compared to their official counterparts.
So Snuffy is interesting, and I've been following her recently because of the Raccoon model. She actually started out as a generic Cotton Candy colored Catgirl when she premiered around April last year.

That model she got through something like an auction for cheap, so she didn't commission it or anything. She just got it and rolled with it.

She's got a Gremlin personality much like Nyanners and Ironmouse. From what I've caught, her fanbase has joked for a while that between her personality, the bushy tail on the iteration of the model she was using at the time, and the random shit she's eaten as a joke on stream:

she was actually a raccoon wearing makeup to disguise herself and be more popular as a catgirl. She liked that idea so much, that when she got a new model she rolled with that as part of her new backstory.

She recently premiered it earlier this month which is why you saw that one video going around of her mouth tracking. It's pretty good because she's using a 3D model like Miko, Roboco, and Sora so the animation can be a bit better.
She spends some time talking about creative burnout in this vid, mainly stemming from the model she had been using being super generic like everyone else and wasn't feeling like she was making content as 'herself'. Much respect for her making such a drastic change with her character, and the community has clearly embraced the hell out of it.

In the last few days, on top of the new character reveal, she also dropped the cutesy voice and just talked with her natural voice. Which suits her model much better, and it suits the 'lore' of her character being a raccoon disguising herself to fit in.

If you're looking for anything different than Nyanner/Ironmouse, you're not going to find much. But at least she talks like a normal woman, and I actually like the deeper tomboy voice (as she calls it). She's in the same column as Okayu, Gundou, Flare, and Calli with that regard.
