yeah my first time playing i was worried over "where do i put my points? if i'm a necromancer how do I build to BE a necromancer?" once I realized there are no set classes and you can build whatever you want, I let my creativity go and it's really fucking fun. Which is something Phil will never experience.
Phil doesn’t care about creativity. It’s the reason why his Soulsbourne streams are really popular. People who are fans of those games, myself included, are in fucking AWE at how much he disrespects them, simply by playing them. He has no drive to find an interesting build, to explore, to learn the lore, nothing.

As someone that can’t go more than a month without opening and cleaning their shit I can’t even imagine the amount of dust that’s stuck in those devices even jasper was coughing when he got behind that dusty console crypt I didn’t even know cats could cough

phil's ideal existence is "push button, get reward"
"push button, win game"
"push button, eat food"
"push button, buy products"

phil is so afraid of failure or wasting time, that any creative venue is a no-no to him because there is a chance he might fail (same reason he can't talk to people without a ton of control, he might fail)
he needs his satisfaction here and now

if he could, he would live in a giant skinner box, where all his needs are at the push of a button

I refuse to feel owned until these guys are donating $1000 per stream. Remortage the house, sign up to those credit cards, stop paying those pesky bills to really step up and help support Phil, after all bankruptcy is its own success.

Wheelchair Battalion! Raise your credit cards! Fight for REEE! Own the trolls!
And for fuck's sake! Verify your PayPal accounts! *snort*

Yes sir!

Except when the game is challenging, in which case he's not here to do hard work, he's here to have fun and relax and enjoy himself, and clearly the chat all wants that for him, too.
Or when he said that his Yakuza 7 "chill" grinding streams aren't meant to be entertaining. Or when people bitch about his khantent being boring and he says that it's on THE AUDIENCE to be entertained, not HIM! Imagine if you bought tickets to a gig and the band fucking sucked and they told you that it's on the crowd to like the music, not on them to play well, pure delusion.

But remember, he thinks he's making meaningful khantent and busting his ass all day every day.

its always triggered me how he calls that dirty fucking room an "office". offices are for doing work in. he doesn't work. he panhandles on twitch
We should start referring to it as the indoor street corner. Luckily, no one can drive through there to suffer his spitting on their windshield and squeegying it off.

Is it just me or has Phil been more unhinged than usual over the last little while? The way he's been interacting with his audience and having weirder than usual rants just seems a little bit off to me. First, when the Mortal Kombat movie trailer came out he was talking about how big of a deal it was, he was wearing his Mortal Kombat shirt and everything. Then he talked about what everyone was saying on twitter and just how much he read about it WITHOUT watching the 2 minute trailer himself. Then the other day he said he was going to discuss the Playstation State of Play and Nintendo Direct even though he seemingly didn't watch either or didn't even know what was announced because he just kept asking the chat 'What else did they announce? Anyone know?" It's like the chat is even hand holding his prestreams now.

Also, he's had a few bizarre tangents about phrase origins. He did this weird incorrect rant about the origin of the phrase "Chef's palate" or "refined palate" was derived from a painter's palette because he didn't know a palate was a part of the mouth. And yesterday he did his hilarious carpet baggers origin explanation.

Is Phil just trying to sound like he still gives a shit about his job and trying to sound smart or is he actually getting worse?

Locking himself in a fart box for 6 hours a day is probably starting to fuck with his brain a bit, that and probably removing any and all opposition to what he says on a whim and being addicted to it has caused his social skills to rot.

To be fair, so would I.
Perhaps, but I'd venture a guess to say that's because you've been out in the world and you know What It's Like Out There. Phil hasn't. Phil went straight from high school to the extended toddlerhood that is the modern American university system to living in a condo where his parents came by weekly to clean and do his laundry to living with Leanna while making obscene amounts of money for what the majority of the world considers a hobby. People who know hardship of course yearn for an easier life, because they understand the stress and danger of the alternative.

Phil clings onto such a life because he doesn't know the world and it terrifies him.

I think Phil legit has depression. It sounds like he wants to care about all the stuff he used to care about but can't access those emotions or work up the motivation to actually get involved.

He's stuck working this stream for the rest of his life unless he wants to take a huge pay cut while at the same time there's really nowhere for his streams to go since he's killed any marketability he once had. He'll never be able to get sponsors, people won't invite him to collaborate on projects

None of this is a reason to feel sorry for Phil though because he's still a total dick to everybody except Derich.
