Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

My boss just said fuck it to masks as long as none of customers complain. Reason given. She's tried of smelling her own breath.
My state is dropping the mask mandate. Some county's are keeping but life is returning to pre covid levels of normal. Fuck even went to dinner and a movie. I hope things in texas go back to normal for you @Bakarina
Must be nice. My coworkers have doubled down on the mask thing because people are starting to ignore the mask mandates and ignore the people that obnoxiously attempt to enforce it (security/police have been called several times; because this is texas I'm wondering if the cops will eventually tell my company to only call them if there's an actual problem). Due to the business being privately owned, they can make up and enforce their own rules even if local restrictions decrease so I wonder if -when Abbott undoes the mask mandate- the company will as well or if it'll keep up with the masks

Congrats! That's fantastic. If Abbott drops the mandate my county will most likely be right behind it seeing as a lot of people are starting to stop bothering with it. Work will most likely attempt to keep up with it until the business is directly effected by it (seeing as a private company can make it's own rules you have to abide by but if everyone in the area is no longer wearing masks then no one will want to go into a place where you have to).

I'm expecting my work to handle it the exact same way as our firearm policy (which is very very poorly and will eventually end in a lawsuit).

A business near my area used to be like this. Then someone reported them to the gestapo and they got new management. What I'm saying is, don't expect this to last.
Says you mask mandate dropped like a bad habit
the boss only allows staff inside the building and told me that masks aren't required for that reason though he wouldn't stop anyone from choosing to wear one if they feel safer with it. The only time I've seen someone there wear a mask is when they had to pick up a package left in our alcove.
Same here Boss said as long as it's not bothering people. Besides the masks are
For appearances only

If a business' bottom line -making money- ends up hindered rules get changed but it takes a long time due to bureaucratic red tape. My company is attached to a lot of bigger companies and my facility does well enough in all aspects that several stores can outright fail in keeping their margins where they should be and still make a profit overall. But if that's harmed then it's up shit creek without a paddle.

Yup Pretty much businesses have final say even if the government changes the mask mandate. Businesses can still enforce it as long as it's popular enough not to hurt there bottom line

Does anyone think if the peasants complain enough it will allow things to re-open sooner? I personally do not think so. Why not just play ball for a while longer and clear this shit up so we can just go back to normal because as it stands it just seems like all the belly aching and defiance is only making this drag on longer than it should.
