Aliens Fireteam

Looks fun, the discord the devs made has been fun thus far. Lots of people excited, including me.

Color me interested, it's been a while since we got a potentially good Aliens game. No, Isolation doesn't count since it's Alien, not AlienS.

Same. A: CM got hyped up a ton and... we got something worse than Duke Nukem Forever, as impossible as that sounds.

This game isn't made or published by Gearbox so there's no chance of having Randy use all the money to finance another Borderlands game.

Yea no Idea why people keep bringing up colonial marines. So far the Studio is essentially unproven, but they have nothing negative to their name. The trailer pretty much confirms this is Left 4 Aliens, just like we are getting (not) Left 4 dead 3 and Left 4 40k. Its a relatively simple genre, not like they are being overly ambitious here.

unproven studio, unproven publisher, 3rd person gameplay just screams cosmetics and microtransactions, even more since the game has to stand on it's own and not as some promo for a movie (unless I missed a new aliens coming out).

genre might be simple but these days they can't even do that anymore without shitting themselves, so I'm gonna wait and see. personally I don't expect much (if it ever sees the light of day).

Because it was really bad, but looked great at every step along the way (source, someone who bought it on release day with a couple friends).

It was by Gearbox, with a proven track record of good FPS games (never cared for Borderlands or Brothers in Arms myself, but the Half-Life expansions were solid). It was a licence with a proven track record of good FPS game where even the "bad" ones were simply mediocre. Gearbox managed to fuck up the unfuckupable. You spend two thirds of an Aliens game fighting humans, that's how bad it was.

Everyone knows about Aliens: Colonial Marines. But if youre not making the case that the IP is somehow cursed, then I dont see how its relevant. All its saying is that Randy managed to fuck over Sega and trick people.

The IP isn't cursed. There's tons of good Alien games:

Aliens for the arcade (made by Konami)
Alien Trilogy
Aliens Online (1998 and the first "games as service" multiplayer game)
Aliens: A comic Book Adventure.
Alien 3 The Gun (gun cabinet arcade game)
Alien Resurrection on Playstation
Aliens Thanatos Encounter
Aliens Infestation
ALL of the motherfucking AVP games aside from the one on the SNES/Game Boy and also Requiem on the PSP. Yes, AVP 2010 is still good and has a solid single player campaign.
