Trans people will do everything in their power to convince you that
you will kill yourself if you do not get these surgeries, usually through manipulating statistics in their favor
. Everyone has seen the 41% statistic, but another one that frequently circulates is the "1-in-12 trans people are murdered" statistic. Anyone with an understanding of statistics knows that this
cannot possibly be true, or else we'd have a Tranny Death Mountain at every hospital across the globe. Many of them don't care about the physical/mental health and safety of their fellow trans people, though, and instead use their kneejerk emotional reactions to the lies to further their agenda. Maybe it started as an attempt to raise awareness of the very real suffering that people are going through, but over the years, it has become one of the most widely-circulated lies among trans people.
Think about it — who makes better prey than people who are already mentally and emotionally compromised by their unstable sense of self? No matter what side of the "tucute/trender" versus "truscum/trutrans" side of the debate you're on, they will gaslight you and manipulate you into eschewing any form of self-help that comes from outside of the trans sphere. You will only be given trans-affirmative resources and will be told that anything less is transphobic gatekeeping, which caused a bit of doctor shopping before the "informed consent" model gained traction. Even the most "reasonable" trans people will do this; they hit a point where their delusions become so powerful that even the most horrifyingly botched surgical procedure is perfect in their eyes. No amount of telling them that these surgeries are experimental procedures, possibly life-threatening, and bordering on insanity can deter them.
Only when they finally undergo their long-sought-after surgeries do they begin to understand the consequences of their actions. Even those living with complications, like fistulas 6-months post-op or nerve death, will still recommend these surgeries to others because they believe the cons of necrotic tissue outweigh the pros of being a real boy or some shit. None of them are innocent in peddling their snake oil to other mentally ill people, so what sympathy I have has long since dried up for the most part.
