General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Most Japanese companies that aren't necessarily traditional multinational conglomerates tend to be Japan-centric in their business-focus and strategies. Being agile and adept at leaning into explosive trends isn't really their thing. EN wasn't expected to be this successful, more like a bigger version of ID with a throwaway foreign audience they didn't quite expect to be this big.
It's scary. Quite alot of (the established) Japanese companies are so stubborn for foreign markets that both Korea and China actually looked at its cracks and slip through covering rest of the market where JP either didn't want to reach or just half assed it. And you can really see the results on basically many fronts, like electronics and entertainment.

I think the best example would be Magia Record. Im very sure the franchise already got very large following around the world. What did Aniplex do? Implement very harsh geolock, release outside Japan after a year of Japanese Release (basically killing quite alot of hype) and it's only for US and CANADA ONLY, and even then the device compatible for running the game is limited. It has been shut down after just less than 1.5 years of release, leaving the game back to Japan only. Kantai Collection also like this, except this time without even any outside Japan release, despite large fandom around the world demanding the release.

No wonder games from China (Genshin, Arknights, etc) which markets themselves very heavily around the world flourishes. Same with Idol and music industry except this time its the Koreans. It seems that the only sector Japanese Companies willing to commit worldwide is the automobiles, and thats it.

Theres also that extremely draconian Japanese Copyright Law and stuff, and so on.

I really don't want to see Japan in general gatekeeps themselves from the worldwide success amd recognition. Its partly the reason why these new companies like Cover amongst others are so important. They already commit to worldwide audience far more than the established ones.

I would say that the attitude towards gacha games is different as well. This is just based on what I've personally experienced and heard mind you, but I've never found the chinese gacha games to be overly grindy or predatory, while the amount of bitching I've heard about the luck required in games such as FGO to unlock everything is legendary.

this, many excuse i have seen regarding this situation is because Japan been isolated for hundred year they still put their custom and principle to be on top and still ignored about overseas influence, and yeah the word saying along the line "Japan is future ahead and yet still ancient" is true. i mean who still use fax these day.

same goes with mobile game, hate it or like it. japan already try to establish mobile/gacha game for the newest way to gain money. the market is big and they produce good shit game visually at least, tho the basic cash grabbing is there. but still, i can see it may earn more if they publish globally, just basically hire translation and boom! but with idk reason they decided to hold it back, thats why we get localization of FGO couple years after the original, GBF on their 3rd year... i guess? and heck Pricon got global 6 years after it release. while china and korea already embrace their potential market global
This is one of the advantages of being an indie and I think it will be interesting to see how it affects the growing EN vtuber space because it's hololive vs. everyone else right now. Sure there's VShojo, but I consider them a band of indies similar to VOMS rather than a bona-fide company--someone who watches them can correct me on that though. I'm curious to see an American or Western-based equivalent to Cover (or bigger) to try and challenge hololive just to see how Cover would react.
yes, the advantage of indie or at least having corporate that doesnt make you worry what game to play is what you need to use well. all you need later just a luck and algorithm to push you getting bigger, it goes with every single one who try to make it big, like Pewdiepie with his Amnesia or horror game? Toast or CorpseHusband with Among Us, heck even Roberu made a meme out of playing mariokart, and hologirls reaction of lammar and franklin on gta v create the whole meme. but the bad side of it, you gotta grind hard,

There would be a historical-cultural nuance that western entertainment industry will inevitably miss/get wrong, not to mention the obvious difference in attitude toward politics that will led to a lot of mess.
the only thing fuck western entertaiment industry nowday is fucking twitter and cancel culture, now day you cant stop thinking who ever start have a big name, what kind of drama they involved to that will make them downhill. is it being pedo? alphabeth political? or politic in general.

Sora open her membership on youtube.

Casual Sora is very seiso.

I also can't help but see her new outfit as Kizuna Ai seiso version.

Btw, does that mean Sora disabled her NND membership?

Since Calli's a bit of an M, I'd honestly like to see her be the one out of Hololive EN to play Undertale, and specifically the G route. Plus it'd fit her whole Reaper schtick. Has she ever mentioned having played it before? She loves those RPG Maker things so, I'm leaning towards probably.

I hope so, NND is so archaic with its memberships. Get a membership on the last day of the month? Get charged again the next day. Cancel your membership? It gets disabled, instantly. Like what year do they live in?

They do that probably because they know their website is totally dying to the death. AZKi too already open her membership on youtube so it's a good choice for Sora to open her membership on youtube.

Edit : Oh shit, Sora wearing glasses is very cute.

in their defense, there's a difference between selling a product and selling a service. europe had traditionally issues in that regard since every country had their own laws you had to work with (mostly superseded by EU law now tho), and language differences. US (and canada by extension) is the easiest and biggest piece of the pie to get with the least effort. south america/middle east/russia is even more of a clusterfuck or they have no spending power.

I think I‘m ready to embrace this abyss.

that's not the good type of abyss tho, it's the kind that stares back with a cute voice whispering haatchama-chama.
think there's a stream later today, feel free and join to get confused like the rest of us.

in the meantime might wanna check out a cute eldritch cultist octopuss for maximum comf before taking the nip pill (never go full watame).

Kiara's roommate wants to stream Genshin. This can only end well. Granted, she may need to talk to Coco about doing things to prevent crossing the streams like setting up a nightbot or something to block words related to hololive.

just send her a switch with BOTW, close enough and less headache.

is this how it feels to go on dates with a cute girl bros?

play custom maid in vr and ruin yourself for 3dpd forever.
install a chuuba mod and there's a good chance they'll find your dried out husk at some point.

No. She got 400k during sung Sono Chi No Sadame

She got switch just send her BOTW. Genshin needs to understand character build and endless grinding. The shitty problem is the fucking resin is very limited.

ah, only saw the 400k in chat when she was singing it, assumed that was the point she reached the goal.

and genshin is a gatcha, that's just how they work. even without resin there isn't much to do if you cleared everything of the current content.
