MORENO SAYS STATE EXPECTED TO LOOSEN TIER RULES

Within hours of our earlier bulletin saying Monterey County businesses could expect the county to move out of the Purple Tier under the state's shutdown rules no earlier than March 24, health officer Dr. Ed Moreno told the board of supervisors he expected modifications to the tier system to be announced very soon. According to Moreno, state health officials have informed the county they would soon announce changes that could make it easier for Monterey County to move into the less restrictive Red Tier — which means businesses might be able to reopen sooner. “We thought there would be an announcement sometime this week,” Moreno said. “One change could impact the criteria to move between Purple and Red tiers. Though he didn’t have details, Moreno noted that the state said the modifications would affect the state’s blueprint for reopening and various triggers. Monterey County has been in the Purple Tier since last summer, but in the last six weeks, the county's epidemic has rapidly diminished, from a daily average of more than 120 new cases per day per 100,000 residents in early January, to fewer than 10 today. I have gone "out-out" twice over the past 10 days. Went to a bar in a different state one night, and then went to a bowling alley another night. The bar was pretty much at full capacity, with people being forced to wear masks under state law, but not obeying social distancing AT ALL. The bowling alley I went to was as full as it could possibly be with my state's restrictions. Masks and social distancing were very loosely enforced though, and the "late night" league that came in pretty much filled the place to full capacity, and multiple people in that league were wearing masks, but audibly making fun of the entire thing.

I know a lot of people make fun of Tim Pool around these parts, but I think he poses a fantastic point about these lockdowns: If more people were able to go to social places like bars and bowling alleys over the past year, then more and more people would be talking to each other about how much bullshit everything is. Instead, people are either forced out of going out or too frightened to go out, so the media gets to manipulate them into thinking a certain way.

You take the social element out of our country, and less conversations and exchanges of ideas are had. Prime material for an authoritarian takeover, if you ask me. Some of the only social interaction people have anymore these days is through social media, and big tech has been working overtime on flat-out censorship.

A very salient point. If you're cooped up with only the internet for socialization, it's all too easy to forget about the human cost of this bullshit. Words don't have nearly the same impact as seeing someone face-to-face.

My brother's in town for a couple days, and it's startling just how much he's bought into the coof paranoia. He refuses to accept that the restrictions are more or less meaningless (I believe he said he's gonna continue masking up once he heard about the mandates ending), and he decries anyone who's even a little skeptical about the rushed vaccine development as anti-vaxxers. Lord knows I'm not gonna tell him that I have no plans to get stuck, he'd probably blow a gasket.

I'm 99% sure that most of this is being brought on by his wife, who is as basic white bitch as can be, down to going crazy over pumpkin spice lattes every fall and doting on her furbabies. If this thread has taught me anything, it's that basic white bitches are the source of most of the coof paranoia, screeching about people who don't want to wear masks and blathering on about how true lockdowns have never been tried. Neither of them have done much more than stay home since they can work remotely, only going out for groceries. Uh... I don't even know. It's pure chaos and incompetency. And while the media usually does its best to hide all those failues, by now it's just too big to not notice.
There's a federal election in autumn. Now that's gonna be fun. Problem is that according to current polls the Greens are now the second strongest party, which might mean them in the government, which in turns means I need to emigrate ASAP.

My grandfather is an overly paranoid person. He learned it from his mother (who wielded paranoia and flat-out crazy like weapons). If you're around a person who has anxiety, paranoia, or anything similar you will start to develop it as well. Especially if you can't escape it like refusing to leave your house cause of a scamdemic. I feel for you and I hope your brother the best. Women are known for bouts of bullshit emotions that might not make sense; the important thing is for them, and the people around them, is to recognize this.

It's a myth that birth rates go up because couples are stuck at home with nothing better to do.

Economic uncertainty is associated with lower birth rates because kids are fucking expensive and most reasonable people choose not to have them when they know they might not have a job in 6 months. Italy's birth rate has dropped by 1/5 in the past year.

I just noticed a state yesterday went like "1k cases, 100 deaths" and today literally went like "0 cases, 0 deaths". And nobody saw that as strange.

Still remained as "0 cases and deaths" yesterday then jumped to "1,700 cases, 60 deaths" today. I'm pretty sure that is not how counting the numbers works-it just seems off but I don't know why? Like I was expecting spikes, but these spikes are way out of the league of what this 'disease' can do at all?
