History's great, but schools have totally mangled it beyond all recognition. Reading first hand accounts and writings of the time are better.

I definitely remember there being a lefty vibe to public school as a kid.

It was around the early 2000s we started getting this stuff pushed on us in my school. In the middle of the semester we had some new week long SocJus class that was suddenly sprung on us. (Although nobody was calling it "social justice" at the time.) We had to fill out these "do you agree or disagree or partially agree with the following statements?" pamphlets that had all these stereotypical "chud"/center liberal statements like "I agree with gay rights, as long as they don't push their lifestyle in my face." (Answering a full "agree" for this question got you scolded and made them explain that you only feel that way due to heteronormativity.) I remember being like "why is it any of your business whether I personally want gay stuff shoved in my face or not"? More innocent times.

After we completed the pamphlets they explained the "right" and "wrong" answers. In retrospect it was obviously just the school district's half-assed rushed attempt to score some progressive brownie points. Still, I dunno if anyone had this stuff in school in the 90s. My generation might have been the guinea pigs for this sort of thing.

If the Religious Right led to the Woke Left as a backlash, imagine what will happen with a right-wing backlash that decides to be even more brutal than the Woke Left was?

These trads are the kind of people who if they had the chance, they would be sure to "actually conserve" via infiltration and moralism so they can succeed where the fundies failed.

The myth that the old Religious Right were harmless and powerless is one that the trads try to reinforce at every turn and you have a lot of those puritan redneck fucks right here on this very forum.

But I'll admit the fundies were relatively sedate in comparison to the Woke Left for a variety of reasons, namely technological differences and the fact the social conservatives were too decentralized for their own good in.

But the fundies' own idiocy was enough to trigger a generational backlash that was extremely massive and disproportionate. Imagine the kind of backlash the Woke Left would suffer if by some miracle the pendulum does begin to swing back.

The Woke Left and their corporate overlords are doing everything they can to turn the rest of America into California.

If there is a backlash against the Woke Left that's actually viable to the point the corporations can't effectively snuff it out and puts the pendulum back into motion again, then I fear the Trad Right will respond to the behavior of the Woke Left over the past ten years in kind with a vengeance.

Woke Leftists want to turn the rest of America into Portland or SoCal and any traditionalist movement that somehow can gain viability can and will try to turn the rest of America into Appalachia.

After the Committee of Public Safety in the French Revolution, the Thermidorian Reaction was not some crazy, traditionalist, ultra-religious pendulum swing. I more expect something along the lines of Thermidor than anything else.
