but you know the other houses around Toggle's hovel seem to make SOME kind of effort, this shot really puts into perspective how fucking miserably the two keep house. Lawn is an absolute wreck, driveway looks like it's falling the fuck apart, the one trash can is just sitting in the massive dead spot on the lawn, there's a huge clump of weeds up close to the one end of the front porch...

If I had to play armchair psychologist I'd say that children are just the natural step up from animals, both lack their own agency, are unable to properly understand or consent, and aren't liable to tell anyone what happened when they've been groomed. It isn't expensive to get a bag of grass seeds from Home Depot or Lowe's and a cheapo push mower, like it takes the bare minimum effort to maintain a decent lawn so it doesn't look like you live in a weird animal rape dungeon-oh wait now I get it.

I'm trying to imagine how you manage to kill HALF your damn lawn. One of the ways that can happen is not cleaning up pet waste in a timely fashion. Another is doing shit like parking a car on the lawn area, but that's not likely to be a thing because the disrepair of the driveway implies disuse and consequent neglect, so that's a strike against either of the residents owning vehicles.

Could be it wasn't garbage day, seems pretty common in suburbs like this from what I know to only push your can up to the curb on certain days of the week when the collectors come to empty them.
