Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Just start viewing the GOP as a massive con job and the latter makes complete sense. The worse things get, the more money the GOP earns from increasingly desperate boomers.

However, the Senate is 50-50, so the dems may literally just not have the votes.

I personally think the bill should be filibustered no matter what.

He obviously works in DC in some capacity and has access to the DC rumor mill, that doesn't mean he's always right though, because rumors aren't perfectly accurate by any means.

We'll see what happens I guess, personally I would think that the GOP knows they need to be capable of being elected in order to get money from their donors. Not doing anything at all to check democrat attempts to legitimize electoral fraud so they can milk their donors for more money is a serious case of valuing the short-term over the long-term.

Except, isn’t Kamala Harris the tiebreaker as VP? The Dems will do everything to get this over the finish line.

All it takes is one democrat in a risky seat to defect and the bill is DOA. I’m not optimistic, of course, but there is “logic” for hoping the Democrats fail to whip properly.

Edit: actually I’m reading here and there it will require 60 votes to pass the Senate? Big if true.

I'd say this thread took a weird detour, but it's still more normal than the Oval Pawfice and Biden being president.

I don't understand the ins and outs of congress but if the senator that requested the covid relief bill be read aloud, and it's being read aloud, do we get to throw tomatoes at the congresspeoples who didn't bother to show up or read the bill?
