Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Literally the only time I wear one (yes, only ONE) of these muzzles is when I'm entering a business that is open to the public. I mentioned the bar and the bowling alley I went to; I entered those buildings with a mask. Going out on walks in the neighborhood? Being in the car? Having guests over at my house? Miss me with that mask nonsense.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to wear a mask, but these businesses are forced to enforce these stupid mandates. All it would take is one Karen to see me without a mask to report the restaurant/business, you know? I don't fault the businesses; they've suffered enough with this bullshit. And, from the looks of it, most of these workers seem so incredibly over it, too. I really do feel for small businesses everywhere.
Yeah they really don't fuck around with the mask mandates where I live. If you don't wear one in the store they'll call security and kick you out. The only place I've been to where they don't give a fuck is the tobacco shop.

People hardly ever used to wear masks outside here but for some reason I noticed it more and more the past few months. It's fucking retarded. If someone tries to tell me to wear a mask outside I'll tell them to go kill themselves. Seeing people in their cars or riding their bike down the street in a mask is especially stupid. Are those people afraid of it leaking in under their door at home too?

I went to visit my best friend and I was kind of worried she'd want to wear masks the whole time but thank God she didn't and we got a chance to drink beer and shoot the shit and catch up. Being around friends makes me realise just how bad this situation has been getting to me. I can't imagine how it is for people who are more extroverted than I am.

Remember when Trump did his "victory lap" after his COVID recovery and people were screaming that he was putting lives in danger?

Yes, they believe that you can catch COVID from 50 feet away through a car door. COVID does whatever you need it to do to scare people.

That's what happens when you mystify a fucking virus and sometimes medicine in general via a deluge of sometimes-contradictory info and other forms of woo.

I'll be really interested in seeing the birth rates of these severely locked down places in the next few years.

Not just from the oopsies one night stands, but from the relationships that would have started in the past 12 months but didn't because people can't get together and hang out. And "somehow" the restrictions seem to be getting no better even though the vaccines are basically three months old now.

Pretty much everywhere around me has already written off this summer. There were more cancellations this week because New York State has basically said that there will be no permits for any outdoor activities for all of 2021. We're already at the point where we are hoping for NEXT (2022) summer to be more open, and it's not even March yet.
Had to quote myself.

7% decline in December from year to year.

The U.S. is already below the so-called "replacement level" by some measures, meaning fewer young people to support the country's otherwise aging population.

It's also interesting that they flat out say that they were pushing this "overpopulation" narrative and are now backtracking.

"The trouble is we overshot and we dropped it down too much now," Myers told "CBS This Morning" co-host Tony Dokoupil.

Faggots like them are the reason why everyone has lost their fucking brains over a shitty cough that only kills landwhales and old people with multiple issues. Just rip the fucking bandage off already and let people do what they need to do.

It does seem to very rarely (by numbers) hit seemingly healthy, young people incredibly hard but that's being pushed as a common thing and I'm not seeing evidence of that. There are likely a lot of factors in those cases that are not immediately apparent (and will likely never BE made immediately apparent as long as the mystique of the dreaded COVID-19 superbug is convenient to maintain).

Skepticism of claims is healthy. Caution is healthy. Widespread, economy-crippling lockdowns, arbitrary mandates on distancing and masking and so on that aren't even ENFORCED the moment it becomes inconvenient to do so, and facilitating upwards mutations in lethality by putting COVID patients in nursing homes full of people who WILL get hit hard by it? Not healthy. We're now looking at easily a generation's worth of fallout just from the measures that have been taken (apparently in vain) to "flatten the curve" or whatever fucking buzzwords they're vomiting today. People are going batshit insane, losing their minds as they lose their livelihoods and homes, and if you thought people were snippy BEFORE this shit hit the fan... oh man.

Not half as funny as last year, when Yuropoors were actively cockblocking each other and stopping PPE from crossing borders WITHIN Europe. Globalism is a perfectly balanced system with no exploits.
It's not that long since the internal market was implemented to knock down border contrrols between EU member states and now they're reverting right back to the 1920s. Absolutely magnificent, ladies and gentlemen.

The enduring low boil of enmity between European nations that never really went away. It's kind of funny, really. Makes for an interesting comparison to interstate rivalries in the States.

The constant fellating of pop science and believing science as if it was a religion makes it even worse. How can any person make a sane decision when there is more misinformation from those who should know in the first place? Also, anyone who was caught putting COVID patients in nursing homes should be in a cell, mainly because it is common sense that the elderly are more vulnerable to diseases. The lockdowns in themselves are unsustainable at best and absolutely crippling at worst. Whoever said that Dr. Fauci is the biggest source of misinformation was correct. Now I am curious of what would happen if huge swaths of people start doing the exact opposite of what Dr. Fauci says.

Cool. Good for them, although they still have to wear masks which is still irritating.
Damn, this is pleasantly surprising! I honestly thought CT would be one of the last states to lift any restrictions.

This is pretty encouraging. Don't lose hope fellow deep blue staters!
Meh, I won't hold my breath. Massachusetts is gonna be one of the final ones to fully open, guaranteed. Only California and New York are also vying for the dead-last spot.

I think my purple state, North Carolina, may be one of the last ones to lift restrictions (including mask mandates). Our Democrat governor just vetoed a bill that would reopen K-12 schools and the state senate fell short of overriding the veto. One of the Democrat senators who voted for the bill voted not to override the veto (after the governor told him not to vote to override) and another one who voted for the bill was absent on the day the override vote was taking place.
