Cytokine storms were a concern with the virus itself re: people with young, healthy immune systems, though it'd be downright... interesting if the vaccine caused a much higher incidence of those than the virus itself.

Just lie and say you did or something. Or just have a long conversation where you explain yourself and your reasoning. If your parents are that cucked, it sounds like there's worse going on than suddenly saying at family dinner "Oh by the way if you don't get the vaccine you're getting kicked out, pass the sweet potatoes, please."

I would imagine that if you tell the staff doing the pre-screening that you don't consent to the shot and not to tell your parents, HIPAA would prevent them from narcing on you if you're an adult and live in the US. I know for certain types of sensitive procedures the docs will lie to parents and say there's a medical reason such-and-such cannot be performed. I don't know if that's something anyone would be willing to do for the coof shot.

You could also say you have a food allergy or something of that nature. A friend of mine posted her screening form recently and I was surprised to see I would be able to genuinely mark "yes" to a few of the questions.

BTW, the Texas military wife has a degree in biology. It boggles my mind of how people can go through a program designed for you to question things and not question the effectiveness of the masks most people wear. I guess it’s just a failure in the education system.

Military institutions have been pozzed for years so this really doesn't surprise me. Most of the people I know that are attached to the military spout off liberal talking points like they have diarrhea of the mouth. It seems like the higher your rank, the more bullshit you believe.

Leading Canadian newspaper deletes op-ed about COVID asking 'What would Anne [Frank] do?'
(JTA) — The Globe and Mail, a leading Canadian newspaper, has taken down an opinion piece comparing COVID-19 lockdowns to Anne Frank’s experience as a hidden child during the Holocaust.

The piece was originally titled “I’m channeling Anne Frank’s spirit in lockdown,” and was published Wednesday by a contributing writer. The title was later changed before the piece was deleted.

The essay acknowledged that Frank, who was hidden from the Nazis in an attic in Amsterdam for more than two years, was more confined than people currently experiencing COVID lockdowns.

Frank was 15 when she and her sister were killed in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Her posthumously published diary has become one of the most widely-read accounts of the Holocaust.

“As my COVID fatigue has gotten the better of me in recent weeks I started to say to myself, ‘What would Anne do?’ or ‘How would Anne describe this time?’ and ‘How would she cope?’” the Globe and Mail piece said.
Following backlash on social media, the Globe and Mail apologized and said the piece had been taken down.
“An essay about Anne Frank and lockdown has been removed because it did not meet our standards,” the paper tweeted. “We apologize for this error.”

Throughout the pandemic, antisemitism watchdogs have cautioned against making parallels between public health restrictions and the genocide of six million Jews.

Your parents are morons, act accordingly.

Best option: move the fuck out and don't look back.

Alternative: Show up to the appointment by yourself having given no indications to your parents that you intend to not get the shot. Update your status at the hospital/clinic so that your parents are not allowed to inquire about your medical records asap, be sure to specifically ask to talk with an admin to enforce your privacy rights. Don't get the shot, lie and tell your parents you did. Problem solved, and they can't follow up on it in the unlikely event they try to.

New Yorkers will have to get vaccinated in order to escape mandated quarantine for travel (archive).

I am not sure if the NYS senators voting to forgo Cuomo's emergency powers will do shit about that, but I am hopeful. Otherwise I have to get the vaccine (the Johnson and Johnson one). =[
