That's assuming they're not just straight up cooking meth. It would explain all the guns and paranoia, and make them a genuine and lucrative target for serious criminals who would be capable of doing all the things they've talked about - and of course calling the cops would be out of the question.

It wasn't even their mailbox, and both the individual and the organisation it was allegedly sent to haven't said a word about it.
Remember that if the news station got a (harmless or otherwise) suspicious package they would have called the cops straight away. There's not a news desk in the world that doesn't have a Suspicious Package Policy, and there isn't such a policy anywhere that doesn't involve evacuating immediately and calling the cops.
And if they did, and they're not taking about it because the cops told them to keep quiet, who told the Tranch? Phil says he won't involve the cops, so from that we can deduce that the cops didn't call Phil otherwise the cops would be involved whether he likes it or not.
Also, if there was a threat made to the Tranch in the package sent to the news station, why would the cops not warn the tranch about it? Even if it didn't mention the tranch directly and just said "you film trannies and that makes you Fake News, enjoy this MSG", the news staff would mention to the cops that they aired just such a segment literally the day before. Why would the cops not tell the Tranch?
None of this adds up. Someone is lying.
