I rewatched his appearance on PKA a few months ago. While discussing the Ross confrontation, he made a comment about how the entire subject of pedophilia and child abuse was coming up more and more during these internet dramas he was being exposed to. Looking back on it, I think Jim was getting really uncomfortable with just how much evil shit he was being exposed to as Metokur. Jim's response to the liberalist thing was really not that bad. Jim's entire point was that he thought it was funny and that Sargon was only doing it to fellate himself. Sargon was desperately trying to one up him and prove why Jim was "philosophically" incorrect. In hindsight that debate heavily foreshadowed what was going to go wrong with Sargon and why his career is now in ruins.

As far as whether Jim is thin-skinned or not, I think he was a capable of handling the banter before his popularity exploded. As he gained more exposure and was starting to interact with his fanbase more, more people started trolling him and pointing out his faults. It was made worse when he started getting too involved with people like Ralph or Warski, which reflected badly on him when they started to implode and he didn't go after them quite like he did others.

I'm going to say something that applies to not only Jim but this entire website: it's easy to laugh at fallen e-celebs for how badly they ruined their careers. But there is no telling how you yourself would react when put in the same seat. Everyone thinks they won't go down the path of the cow until they find themselves under pressure from trolls having a laugh at their expense. There's a certain reason why so few content creators remain popular and keep their fanbases from turning on them. Only a select few have the personality traits needed to maintain success and avoid ruination.
