How? Wasn't it already made public that his restraining methods were department approved? I get that people think murder 3 or manslaughter will stick because the requirements to convict are less, but if he was following department policy then I don't get how any charge would stick. That's ignoring that the coroner is testifying on behalf of the defense that the approved knee-to-neck pinning technique didn't cause fatal injuries.
These same idiots thought the officers involved in Breanna Taylor's shooting were guilty of murder for returning fire after one of their guys took a near fatal 5.56 to the left thigh, then flipped their shit that the only violation in the situation was an officer being a little reckless and sending a couple rounds into an adjacent apartment that didn't hit anyone.

I always said it was dumb of them to go for 1st instead of 3rd. It emotionally sounds better to go for 1st, but doesn't that include premeditation? The thing is, 3rd or manslaughter would be accidental, which it probably was. Which covers "mistreating Floyd and kneeling on him due to racism" which is the entire point of this trial and the riots.
But if it was premeditated, that brings out the uncomfortable notion that Chauvin recognized Floyd and purposely killed him not because he was black, but because Floyd was witness to some shennanigans Chauvin got up to at the club they both worked at. So the whole racism thing gets thrown out the window and we upended US society for no good reason.
