Creditors don't ask for courts to send random people to mental institutions. A judge would laugh at them if they asked. They can try to take the house, but they absolutely won't care where chris goes after they take it.3) The creditors are going to descend on Chris house, I am pretty sure that they are going to use his mental illness as an excuse why he can't pay his debt and take away the house, and ask to be part of the state (I can even see Cole giving testing against Chris to be in a hospital)
There's little to no chance that Chris, someone who is generally harmless, would be involuntarily held by the state for mental health reasons in perpetuity. There are 50 far crazier people for every Chris, and Virginia maybe has room for two of them. If Chris isn't an immediate threat to himself or others and isn't involved in constant criminal activity then the state won't care about him. Believing that cartoon characters are real doesn't mean that the state is going to take away your freedom and spend tens of thousands of dollars annually to warehouse you in a loony bin.
