I hope the 550 being out of production is only temporary, because I think they're some of the finest hunting rifles on the market and I wanted to get a pair for my oldest son and myself.

I've been thinking about getting a 458 Lott myself for absolutely no reason other than I like magnums. It's not much of a whitetail gun

Where the fuck is all the 45-70? I bought a trapdoor recently and browsing gunbroker i see they go for like $250 for 40 rounds of cowboy loads. Don't think a single shop carries it locally so i'm sorta fucked, but i don't need it so meh. God damn boomers jacking up prices

Pre scare etc, it's been harder to find, it's a re loaders round.
It's fucking awesome to reload since you can copy a literal US army ghetto shotgun round (for desert scouts to shoot birds to eat) to rabbit poppers, to fuck you moose rounds.

It's a great round, and you could just say, I'm sick of this and sell me that trap door :p.

My friend just gave me a light mount for rail, I'm working on this troll 90s patrol rifle AR build it's gonna be so ghetto and fun. Corn cob hand guard, rails outside for light. m4 stock and some ghetto red dot with carry handle and front post. Just random parts.

Ghetto AR builds are why AK people think AR guys are weird and/or insane. But they're also why AK guy respect AR guys, because you have to make due with what you've got/can get ahold of. Shovel handle stock AK, anyone?

I don't think I'll ever find a trapdoor for $800 by luck again so I'll keep it, I've been wanting to get reloading equipment but I just have a hand-loader set for .303 because I shot that more pre-pandemic then anything else I would care to handload.

very few factories are making it currently while more popular calibers are selling so strongly. if you can get brass, make some 150gr cast lead bullets with 10gr of Unique for a light plinking load for metallic silhouette or something like that. should cost under 10 cents per shot and the pressure is low enough that you should be able to reload the cases between 20 and 30 times. that isn't a typo.

there are so many (imho) lolcows in the gun youtuber world, and more minor ones back when magazines, catalogs, and lodge meetings were a thing. i'll say this much: modern gun youtubers (and i use youtube generically, there are others on facebook and tons on forums) sure have the documented quantity out there for people that are into the culture/community. i have stories and experiences going back decades on this sort of thing, but it's too specific for most people to appreciate.

Dude there's a host of shit around that retard that was cutting up AK mags and selling them. He kept trying to use volunteer firefighter excuses to not meet orders.

I always thought they seemed friendly with each other? Only time I know of them butting heads is when that little turd at Gun Nuts Media tried to go at my own namesake and got BTFO.

Brandon Herrera did a reaction video to Forgotten Weapons' "The Worst AK I Have Ever Seen", and apparently even reached out to Ian and offered to fix that horrid thing.

Sorry I didn't mean that as an ALL gun tubers thing but the speds that already have personal cow sagas tend to try to shit on others.

Like the guy who claimed MrGunsandgear didn't serve at all.

Picking up a DSA scope mount for my (admittedly) Century Arms FAL. Anyone know of a good place to buy extra FAL mags that isn't DSA? I'm also looking for Vz stuff, as I've got a Vz 2008 Sporter, and was wondering if anyone had any good muzzle breaks that aren't the AK slant break for it.

I'm still kicking myself for burning my boxes upon boxes of old Shotgun News & other publications/club circulars. The autistic boomer shitflinging & shadethrowing from readers' letters & op-eds was often cringey & always mint. I'd be busy for days reposting them here.

But it was way better when I'd overhear the same arguments being hammered out by a squad of crusty old nuts clogging up counterspace; then systematically pick the racks behind them bare of everything they'd specifically hated..... and their recommendations never steered me wrong.

Still though, I miss the sheer amount of technical knowledge one could pick up just by osmosis from those old fucks.
