No I find this sort of resistance akin to Jim Crow Laws back in the day. The way it was defeated was along the lines of "Why stop and water fountains and schools?" so they agreed and then realized to segregate everything would be too costly and impractical so they gave up and said to everyone shut the fuck up and get along because that is the cheapest option. Their logic is that trans women are women, and therefore straight men are by default attracted to them (extrapolate that to lesbians, gay men, etc). Take that to its natural conclusion, and you get the super straight argument of "well then anyone not attracted to trans people must be a non-normative sexual orientation" and using all their own rhetorical tools against them.

It incenses the trans rights activists, but at the same time it's 100% consistent with everything they've been advocating for.

The concept is everyone except straight people get representation and special rules when in reality we are all special and unique so the straight people said we are our own sexual orientation which is special in its own way and the trans people are calling foul because the super straight community is making their own movement using their terms and euphemisms proving that its not just a one way street.
