South Park + Its Political Sperging (?) Thread - Season 26 ongoing!

This was the new warning at the front of the episode, and I can't tell if they're sincere or shitposting anymore because of how broken they've been ever since Trump won:

I thought it was OK.

I like silly shit like Mr. Service, and old people burning out on motorcycles and giving everyone the finger, and Butters just running around waving the American Flag yelling "Yeah!" over and over.

I feel like South Park used to just take wild pot shots at both sides of a political debate and piss everyone off. Now it feels like they take shots at both sides, but they're much more careful about where they land so as not to piss anyone off and get in trouble. In other words the show's message has generally gone from, "Both sides are retarded" 15 years ago to "Both sides have both valid and invalid points."

If this episode was made in 2004 I think it would have started with everyone wanting vaccines, then we'd be introduced to Garriason and Qanon, we'd be shown what Qanon believes and told it's retarded, then the kids would have ended up taking the vaccines and the adults would attempt to drink the kids' blood to get the vaccine out for themselves, mirroring the retarded Q conspiracy, and Qanon and Garrison would come to the rescue by cutting a deal with the elites, fufilling the Q prophecy in a roundabout way, but also painting Q as a tool of the elite who acts as a retarded false opposition to get people to side with the elite or something I dunno. Just complete balls to the wall insanity that Matt and Trey don't have in them anymore.

It would have been pretty funny if they did the "They actually believe this" thing from Scientology to Qanon conspiracies and change the way the basement conspiracy monologue was presented would also been a fun call back. Tell me if it's a terrible idea but i just thought about it and found it amusing.

Edit : just read that great episode idea

I see it in my head and it's a great idea. God damn creative bro here.

I saw the episode and I found it decent with some funny jokes. However, I found the kids divorce drama to be really cringeworthy and felt really out of place and I didn't really like how Kenny was essentially treated as a little kid. The little defenses of Qanon felt really absurd about "THEY ALSO BELIEVE IN SOMETHING AND HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO IT!".

Qanon is fringe cringe for boomers, they only brought it up to poison the well.

Oh boy...

I don’t know if it was @Ruin or @MirrorNoir who said it in this thread, but one of you posters weren’t lying when they said it was disappointing that the creators of SP were trying too hard to act like both the underdog and the elite at the same time.

Granted these are a few articles, but I’m starting to think that their famous “both sides-ism” arguments in their latest episodes are starting to lose steam quickly. Even the Jewish news site The Forward stated that Netanyahu and Israel’s ambassador to the U.S. liked the episode while criticizing SNL for doing the same thing when it came to the theory that Israel is dropping off more vaccinations for old people in Colorado than they are for the rest of Americans that really need it.

But there is a plus side: QAnon boomers actually liked the episode while claiming that a cartoon does a better job at “waking people up” than our own US government.

Plus, it was reported to be the highest rated show among adults in the 18-49 demographic as well:

Yeah, this is a jab against Disney's practices.

The most retared part of it is how everything needs to be related to QAnon at this point, even shit like Aliens, Flat Earth and The Second Coming of Jesus can't be a thing unless Trump or Q are involved.

I mean QAnon brings all these conspiracy nuts together. I know it has nothing to do with like Aliens and Flat Earth but I guess it just evolved to the word people use for this type of conspiracy people. They are usually linked anyway.

You're be surprised, I've seen the /pol/tards claim the pedophile ring will lead to alien disclosure or Jesus's return.

Just watched the special. Yeah ... It wasn't good. It fell flat.

Has South Park turned into normie humor? Because good lord, the entire episode was a gigantic and lazy strawman.

South Park has lost its edge since they did the China episode. That episode must have pissed off enough of the "wrong" people, and Comedy Central has knuckled down on Matt and Trey.

I just watched it today as well. It wasn't all that good but it also was nowhere as bad as I was worried it would be. It was more "meh" than truly bad. Mexican Joker and Season Finale were far worse and you could tell they were doing the barest minimum to get those two episodes over with. This doesn't have that vibe quite as much but it is still there in some places.

I'm going to chalk this up to Comedy Central buckling down on them really hard after the one-two punch of "Band in China" and "Board Girls" (and possibly the anti-lockdown sentiments in the first Pandemic Special) and Trey & Matt trying to make the best of this and do a reset of the show since they have to kiss the brass ring already.
