The fact the military is so politicized it feels the need to specifically respond to (what it feels) are inaccurate or problematic remarks made once by a talk show host is fucking chilling. They're the ones with the guns and the responsibility/authority to do violence, they don't need to be "rebutting" reporters. At bare minimum the optics are bad at worst it could be seen as a threat.
