Honestly, digging into the history a bit more and browsing through their twitter and other feeds, I really don't see their neighbors being antagonistic at all. The threat is made up to garner attention/sympathy.

The members of this ranch need psychiatric help. This is not looking good at all, they are mentally unstable people isolated with guns and things are escalating.

As disgusting as this all is to watch, I really don’t want things to escalate. I get the sinking feeling that this thread is the next Yaniv, with kiwi farms being ahead of the curve of something that is, very tragically, going to become a household name within a year.

And shit, maybe we’ve got it backwards; I think the idea that there’s a fascist milita specifically targeting the ranch is beyond ludicrous, but I’m willing to give a bit more credence to their basic claims than some others here I think.

I’m not saying it’s right or even smart, but I’ve got this mental image of a bunch of good ol’ boy farmers in rural Colorado, sharing a community with a bunch of clearly unhinged would-be ranchers with a massive weapons cache and a chip on their shoulder. I wouldn’t blame anyone in that situation for wanting to keep tabs on the tranch, and I certainly wouldn’t blame them for keeping a rifle with them for safety when they do.
