Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Fact check websites say it's a secret door, but that seems unlikely to me. There's a 2in gap between the molding and the floor, and I'd think the secret service would be extremely tedious in securing the room before news crews would be allowed in. I would think the White House's little secrets are kept fairly well, and anyone that knew there was a secret door in that room would regularly think about it knowing civilians would be around. That's assuming there isn't some SOP procedure or sign in sheet accounting for everyone that touches the secret door. I don't get it.
