It serves two purposes. First, it automatically divides everyone into the in-group and the out-group. She has an easy way to mark who she's friends with and who she isn't. She can also easily punish people for crossing the line without her permission by accusing them of "misgendering" her. So not only can she easily tell people whether they're in or out, everyone else can tell, too. Secondly, it sows confusion. Typically, "they" is only defaulted to if you don't know what gender someone actually is. So when people who are outside the group are introduced, if they see other people referring to PK as "she," they will assume that is the gender she identifies as and follow suit. Then if they criticize her, she can dismiss all their claims by accusing them of misgendering her. Bam! Confusion, call-outs, and general dismissal. It's the perfect weapon.
