Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

What's the Buzzfeed articles that pander to 80s Nostalgia? DC has a real obsession with it.
It's all the bugmen have now. It reminds the Bob Chipmans of the world of the last time they had anything resembling joy. It's why all multimedia is a reboot of a reboot of a reboot these days.

We just need to delete that whole dreary decade. I mean, I used to be able to see why the 80's were once cool, but now I loathe anything to do with them.

This will go absolutely nowhere and the article even seems to be written with the expectation that it will go nowhere in mind. The people who actually make the decisions in the DNC know full well what successfully impeaching and removing a SCOTUS justice from office would lead to. Moreover fucking with the courts in this way or any other way is not popular with the normalfags at all.
Here's the thing: they don't give a shit. They're petty as Hell, and Kavanaugh was a Trump apointee that they couldn't stop with the #MeToo movement when it was at its most powerful. If people are of belief they Scalia was offed during the Obama Administration just so they could put one of their guys on the bench , what makes you think they won't do something similar here? All you're seeing here is the left moving to grab the one branch of government they don't have a stranglehold on because the environment isn't as ideal as they like to proceed with their plans to pack the SCOTUS.

I thought they needed 60 to pass HR1.
They need 60 votes to invoke cloture. Cloture limits all debate on a bill to 30 hours and then sends the bill for a vote. They only need 50 votes (plus Kamala) to pass the bill. Absent 60 votes, the Republicans can filibuster as long as they want. Will they? Beats me, I've given up on trying to fathom their motivations.

Their motivations are simple: destroy the MAGA Menace once and for all by any means necessary. After which, the Democrats can run unopposed to creating their leftist paradise, and the only complaint that can be levied is “progressive utopia isn’t coming to pass quickly enough”, which is already being levied at Biden.

Not only that, but the way you talk about the vote makeup, Democrats win either way.

Not necessarily. Absent 60 votes, the Republicans can delay a vote on the actual bill indefinitely. And all it would take to defeat the bill on a floor vote is one Democratic senator to break ranks. Kamala's only involved if it is a straight 50-50 tie. I half expect another Republican senator will have a 'family emergency', like whatshisname from Alaska. Your father-in-law died, so you have to rush back to Alaska and miss the stimulus vote? Really?

The Democrats need 10 Republican senators to agree to invoke cloture. They won't get it, which is why we're seeing the sudden push to end the filibuster. If the filibuster goes away entirely or changes to a simple majority to end, they'll only need 50 votes and Kamala to invoke cloture and bring a bill to a vote.

If the filibuster dies, 2022 onwards will be hilarious. Republicans only have to get *one* seat and then they'll be able to just stonewall the dems into doing what they want. Whether they have the balls to actually do so is a different conversation, but its going to be the supreme court pick change again, they'll regret it in the future.

This has literally happened before. There's a video of McConnell saying during Obama's term that the dems will come to rue changing senatorial confirmation voting procedures. Then what happened? Republicans got a majority under Trump and used the rules the dems themselves instituted to have their way.

These people are fucking idiots. It's astounding how retarded democrat politicians can be.

Well, with things like 2020 and HR1, it doesn’t matter if we’re dealing with a pile of rocks. Democrats will get their people in and their things through.

lol, what are you gonna do pussy? No foreign leaders respect a doddering old fool, especially when he has a tranny army behind him

At least they can't push through HR1 through reconciliation. You can only use reconciliation on bills regarding three things: the federal debt limit, federal spending, and federal revenue. Plus, you only get three reconciliations in a year. They already used up one on the stimulus, and HR1 isn't budgetary.

Expect to see a push to change reconciliation procedures in the days ahead. The Dems would love to be able to use it on every one of their pet projects.
