Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Most people who thought Gina was bad at first felt she was a "Mary Sue" for fighting Mando to a draw in her first episode. I vividly remember people turning around on her when she returned later in the season.
late af, but I'll admit when I was first introduced to Cara Dune's character, and saw her fight to a standstill with Mando, my first thought was "Typical empowered woman character defeating the toxic male" but as the episode went on it is revealed that she is a veteran soldier, and only attacked Mando because she thought he was there to get her, as the series went on she grew on me, since she acts friendly towards him and unlike "Strong Whamin" characters she never once mentions her gender or anything similar, she pretty much lets her feats speak for her

This is why I hope they just recast and not entirely dunk the character out of the show.

Oh joy! Looks like the Alien/Predator franchises might be getting the SW treatment! Aren't you excited fellow consoomers?

Imagine if they actually made something worse than the last Predator movie, or something so awful it'll have /tv/ start making "APOLOGIZE" memes for Prometheus lmao.
... and here I thought The Predator would be the lowest the franchise would get. I was wrong.

On the other hand, I'd rather they not recast her because I feel like it would be really really awkward. While yes, I like the character of Cara Dune, I think it'd just be super friggin weird to have her played by someone else. I mean... yes, we do have characters played by other people all the time, and sometimes to great effect (Like Alec Guiness -> Ewan McGregor)

But I feel like it'd just be odd to replace this character with another actor we just saw about 3 minutes ago. It's the same feeling I get whenever they recast Terrence Howard with Don Cheadle in the MCU. Sure, maybe it was or wasn't deserved, but the fact is, it was definitely strange. I suppose people in 30 years probably wouldn't give a damn, though. Especially if Cara appears in more content with more and more portrayals. It's a double edged sword : /

TBH Disney would have to actually really try to out-fuck up both Alien Covenant AND the Predator.

I fully believe they can do it and fuck it up beyond anything yet due to the effort they put into being fucking terrible, but face it; Alien as a series was shit since Alien3, and Predator was only one good movie, and a pair of decent ones. Them getting new shitty films and TV shows is to be expected.

The problem with turning Alien & Predator into a franchise is that as scifi/horror/action you've got to keep a lot of plates spinning:
Horror only works when there's the unexpected, sci-fi needs to have internal consistancy/logic if not a true adherence to reality, action is self explanitory.
I mean once you know the Xenomorph has a life cycle, once you know the predator is a trophy hunter with an active cammo system, you have to shake things up to keep the horror element

Incidentally, both these franchises have a sequel that works - Aliens ups the action & introduces uncertainty because its a whole Alien nest, and Predator 2 introduces the shadowy government agency, as well as new Predator technology while changing the scenery.

And while Alien 3 was a mess, I thought Predators was a solid movie that's major flaw was it under delivered on its premise, and tried to introduce the 'Predator Civil War' as the dumbest 'twist' I've ever seen.

Aliens Vs. Predator was a fucking travesty - made all the more egregious by the fact they wasted an excellent cast and had been given a fucking road map on how to do it right with the comics.

Anyway, we've seen what Disney had done to star wars and that was a healthy property when the rat started gnawing on it. What they're going to do A/P will make The Last Jedi look like a film that was respectful of fans and consistent with existing lore.

And the only reason Disney bought them in the first place was because Kevin Fiege wanted X-Men so that the MCU can stay relevant post-Endgame.

By that logic Disney+ should already have The Star Wars Holiday Special with Life Day being referenced in The Mandalorian, two short stories and Squadrons DLC.
My guess would be the og Holiday Special tape masters are completely destroyed, if they were even kept in the first place. I know there's been some okay versions on the net (KCCI, etc), but people wouldn't put up with that level of quality today on a paid streaming service, and it wouldn't be worth the cost to remaster it for lulz.

I'll still defend Prometheus as a solid Science Fiction film with some God-Tier visuals because that is in fact Ridley Scott's greatest asset as a director. He even elevated something as middling as "The Martian" that could have been a Michael Bay tier schlock had it not been for his gorgeous art direction.

Utter shame that he was obviously forced by the studios to immediately connect it back to Xenomorphs. Prometheus could have stood on it's own just as a story set in the same universe.

I haven't even watched Alien Covenant because I don't want it to sully my good memories on Prometheus.

Just in case anyone was holding out hope, let me snuff that right out as Alien series is explicitly confirmed to be total shit:

"Expect a scary thrill ride set not too far in the future here on Earth," Disney announced on its Twitter feed.

Agreed, Prometheus would have been much better if they hadn't tried to tie to to Alien, and stopped make everything in the movie some sort of allusion to better films.

Got the latest Star Wars newsletter today, celebrating women's history. That said, not a lot of actual women's stuff going on:

No Mara Jade, no Cara Dune, no surprise. I guess that's Padme on the left and Leia in the center? Plank of wood middle left and orange jailbait middle right? With... Fennec on the end?

They can't even do this womxn thing right, the only womxn promoting things in the newsletter are in the header.

EDIT: how telling is it that the only way you can figure out who Rey is, is she has to hold her staff from the first movie? Little development or attachment to the character past the first 15 minutes of the first movie, and her iconic accessory isn't even a lightsaber.

It at least gives the consoomers some good Star Wars content. Disney will bring on all the old content while their new works are still in production. Expect the Droids cartoon to be on Disney+ right before they launch their own Droids program.

Not sure I'm convinced this will ever happen, but yes please. Long as I can get some high-definition rips that somebody's stolen offa there.

Have DVDs. Don't care.
First thing that came to mind when I saw this news was that this was their way of trying to fan the flames during this whole Gina firing and George's virtual speaker dramas. Despite that, it gave me a nasty inkling feeling because Disney stated that only "canon-aligned' material would be allowed on Disney+ for some fucktarded reason, and then I realized that this means they might make it canon again (which I dreaded since this would mean bringing it up to CURRENT YEAR standards like they did Thrawn and the Lando Trilogy). I tried denying this might happen and that they're probably just looking for EU content to appease scorned fans... but then... I found it... the horror... the horror...

Yep... That's Durge... the real deal himself Disneyfied.
The only villain from Genndy Wars untouched by Filoni or Disney's corruption and who remained safe from their machinations, only to be re-introduced in a fucking Doctor Aphra comic... This can only mean one thing. He's going to get fucking humiliated just like every other OG SW character that's been set up with or against her...

Everyone fucking suffers. No doubt Durge will make some sort of "epic" appearance that's then followed by 2 issues of filler that ends with Aphra killing him by finding out that he has a weakness to salt or that he's a puny little smurf-sized alien or a human (as Filoni wanted) operating a mechanical suit from afar.

I dread what sort of things they have in store for the rest of Clone Wars. I had suspicions this would happen ever since a lot of Disney shit started referencing it bit by bit. Its only a matter of time before Kyle Katarn appears in Dr. Aphra to explain why he and Jan weren't the heroes of Rogue One...

Are people even aware Gina is working with Ben Shapiro right now? I've not heard anything in the places I visit. It's like she just vanished for the most part and most people don't really seem to care.
