Imperial Russia was essentially a two-speed economy, with standards comparable to France in the cities, and near-subsidence lifestyles in the countryside. In the effort to level the two, some people theorize that around 75% of the wealth & potential GDP of Imperial Russia, and half its human potential was destroyed during the 20s-30s by the Bolsheviks. But what happened? People did not revolt against the government in first world capitalist's countries. Why? Why didn't they revolt, but the poor people in Russia did? It was because of the middle class system. You see, when people are able to make a decent living to provide their families food, clothes and the essentials, they are not going to complain about the system. Cause the system works, why change it. The reason Communist took off in Russia was because majority of the people were poor. It was unfortunate that Pyotr Stolypin was assassinated in 1911. He stated that he'll be able to turn Russia into a prosperous nation in 20 years. And he might of, had he lived. But again people revolted cause they were poor and they believed that the current government was the problem.
The End results was, people were still poor. The Bolshevik revolt didn't make things any better. Which is why World War 2 happened. Because a bunch of socialist leaders, Hitler, Mussolini and FDR wanted to rebuild the world. FDR praised Hitler and what he was doing in Germany. It was the reason why he didn't go to war against Hitler in 1939. If you read history you'd know that when Hitler and Russia invaded Poland, people wanted to go to war in the US. But the government were divided on that issue and FDR didn't want to fight against Germany. We only got involved in WW2 because of Japan.
Not redistributed, straight up destroyed, whether intentionally or unintentionally.
Same in China, Cambodia (among other communist states), and now Venezuela as the newest victim. Fundamentally, communists and socialists have never solved the human aspect of their theoretical utopias- the theory starts to fall apart beyond the village level and has always resulted in hybrid systems or totalitarianism.
